A man has been slammed online after he decided to put his girlfriend to work while she was sick.
Empathy is an important part of human connection, but some people seemingly lack the emotional capacity to put this skill into action in their daily lives.
One man learned the hard way after he was dragged on the internet after forcing his wife to help him cook while she was sick.
Taking to Reddit's infamous 'Am I The A**hole?' thread, a person posted a recollection of the time they brought their girlfriend a cutting board to bed so she could help make dinner, which was later reposted to the 'Reddit on Wiki' thread.

"My girlfriend was not feeling well," he said, giving some context before he started. "She said to me that she was going to eat some soup, but was not feeling like cooking together. Normally, we go to the store and cook together every night, we both like to."
He then went on to say that he was "looking forward to cooking together" so he tried to get her to go to the grocery store with him to grab some ingredients.
However, even though she kept saying she wasn't feeling too well, she eventually said that she would go after he offered to "cook dinner".
"When we got home, I asked her if she wanted to cook with me," he said again, clearly not understanding that she was physically incapable because of her health, but whatever.
"She told me she could try. After ten minutes, she stopped and told me she was not doing ok and went to the bedroom."

You would think things would stop there and he would let her rest but if the title is any clue, you'd be right about what happened next.
"I was making dinner in the kitchen alone, she was in bed so I thought maybe she could still help from her bed," he continued. "So I brought her the cutting board, a knife, and a bell pepper to cut.
"She told me that she was not feeling well and was not able to help with preparing dinner and that she did not feel like eating. I told her: but you still need something to eat right, that's good for you.
"AITA for bringing the cutting board to her bed when she was feeling sick?" he added.

Of course, the comments were unforgiving, and rightfully so.
"This guy has the density of a collapsed star. Unbelievable," wrote one user, while another added: "I can’t believe he thinks they have to absolutely cook together every dam night. F*** no. Not this one. And the first time someone brought me a cutting board and stuff while I’m sick af. They getting st*bbed."
A third was also shocked at the man's response, writing: What the f***... even if this wasn’t an insane thing to do when someone is sick... how tf would she chop stuff in bed? What a plum."
And this user had some direct advice for him: "Are you freaking serious? Wtf kind of idiot is this? Just make her some damn soup and then leave her alone geez."
The post ended with an update from the original writer after seeing the responses.
"EDIT: I maybe have a hard time relating, it was [a] long time ago I was sick myself. When I was 10 was the last time, so I do not really [remember] how it felt," he wrote. "If I have a headache myself, I still try to cook. So maybe I handled it wrong. But I thought... this way, we can kind of still cook together."
What do you think about this situation?
