It's one of the perils of being in a relationship;if you are in a loving union, you will no doubt have to endure the rigmarole of going to the shops on behalf of your partner. There is no correct way of doing this as no matter what you do, it will always be incorrect. They wanted black socks when you got blue, they wanted orange soda, not lemon. But, as one guy found out, the worst thing your partner can possibly ask you to pick up is... a pair of leggings.

When Tay Gallagher asked her boyfriend to grab her a pair of leggings, the poor guy went into meltdown in the store when trying to find the perfect pair. Thankfully for us, her hapless boyfriend Whatsapped Tay throughout the entire ordeal and she was kind enough to share the epic story on Twitter for us all to read.

Tay alleges that she was busy working all weekend and, seeing as her boyfriend was out doing some shopping for her birthday present, she figured that she would ask him to pick her up a pair of black leggings, too. But what followed was an increasingly frantic series of text messages from her boyfriend-of-two-years, who was flabbergasted by the variety of black leggings.

Within one minute of arriving at the store and saying, "There's so many different types of leggings. Why? For what reason?" Tay's boyfriend had begun to lose his mind, saying: "I fail to understand the need for eight thousand different types of black leggings." He then further added: "No wonder the number of women with anxiety is on the rise."

Our heroic shopper spent a total of five minutes in the shop, where he adopted the foetal position before using "extra thick leggings for warmth."

In the end, the brave survivor text his girlfriend, telling her that "All hope is lost. I'm going to make a break for it."

The story ended there, but Twitter being Twitter, users needed more. Did the man manage to get a pair of leggings? In fact, did he even make it out alive?

The man in question, Tim Goddard, replied, saying that he managed to make it out, but that he wasn't "100% convinced" that he wasn't still in a coma. Undoubtedly, Goddard's explanation made little-to-no sense in the slightest, but this guy has been through hell and back, guys - let's cut him a bit of slack.

It also emerged that it was a successful mission, with Tay confirming that Tim managed to deliver the leggings safe and sound and he instantly became an internet hero.

Well done to Tim, you're not the hero we deserve, but you are the hero we need. Next time, if your partner asks you to buy them something from the store, just refuse - it may cause an argument but it will be better in the long run.
