A woman has taken to TikTok to reveal she can never wear a pair of leggings her husband lovingly bought her because they create a very unfortunate optical illusion.

The woman, who goes by @gutpunchmommy on TikTok, decided to share the hilariously awkward moment with her followers.

She posed in the leggings as she wrote in overlay text: "Bless his heart. My husband’s Valentine’s gift. Light pink leggings can’t be worn in public."

The post was aptly set to the words: "Horrified looks from everyone in the room", from Taylor Swift's song 'Speak Now' which played over the video.

See the unfortunate leggings below:

Now, while the leggings may have looked nice in the shop, once they were actually tried on something unfortunate came to light...

The material matched the woman's skin tone so perfectly it made it look like she was entirely naked from the waist down - which is sure to cause some double takes.

She captioned the video: "His love language is giving gifts. I adore the thought and love behind the gift... I will however offend all the other parents at the next PTA meeting if I showed up in these."

The video quickly racked up over 1.8million views as many people took to the comments to confirm that, unfortunately, she definitely couldn't wear those trousers outside.

They wrote: "The way I gasped when the video came up", and: "A coworker wears them and I die every time."

One questioned whether they'd even be acceptable as loungewear, commenting: "BARELY can be worn in private," while another added: "These should be illegal."

Others were completely convinced by the illusion initially, adding: "I was shocked this wasn’t blocked until I read the caption," and: "I took me a hot minute to find where they ended."

She later shared a follow-up TikTok addressing what they looked like from the back, but cheekily covered herself with a black bar telling her followers the platform "wasn't ready" for that particular sight.

While they were undoubtedly a very sweet gift to receive, her poor husband didn't know quite how questionable they'd look on, given he'd managed to pull of quite a spectacular color match on the garment.

Some of her followers did point out that they could come in useful as a warm layer underneath dresses where her legs would otherwise be on show in the colder months, so she may get some use out of the controversial leggings yet.

And while @gutpunchmommy won't be wearing those leggings on the school run, another mom recently revealed that she has to 'crab walk' when she goes to collect her children due to the "offensive" tattoos she had inked on the back of her calves.

Come to think of it, a pair of these nude-colored leggings probably would come in quite handy for her.
