A customer was left stunned after he noticed an extra charge added to his $270 restaurant bill.

A man named Antonio Barbeito, from Madrid, Spain, recently enjoyed a meal at an unnamed restaurant while on vacation in Menorca.

The Spanish island is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea next to Ibiza and Mallorca.

The customer, who goes by the handle @barbeitovila on X, revealed that he ate a lobster for $180, shrimp tartar ($28), fried baby squid ($20), mussels ($15), ice cream ($7) and a few sodas and coffees.

Barbeito was content with paying the hefty $270 bill for the fishy feast but was taken aback when he looked at the receipt and saw that he was charged $3 for an extra glass of ice.

The man shared his shock on the social media platform, writing (translated from Spanish to English): "I love national tourism and I almost never leave Spain to support a community as important as the hospitality industry.

"But on a bill of 250 euros, being charged 3 euros for extra ice seems extremely out of place," he said, posting a picture of the receipt.

Many people felt his frustration and took to the comment section to share their thoughts, with one person commenting: "The hospitality industry is becoming increasingly shabby."

Another user shared that "it seems incredible to me that they charge me ice from coffee en ice and not from Coca-Cola," while a third urged: "It is worth it for you to put the name of the restaurant so we know what to expect and decide whether to go or not!!"

However, some people told the man that he should've expected the fee. "Ice packs are sold in supermarkets, why do you expect it to be free in a restaurant if the product is individual and is not part of the dishes & drinks you have ordered?" someone hit back.

A second user, who works in Mallorca, said: "The prices are not bad...charging you for ice is really cheap," and added that where they work "you would have paid more for the same thing, but we wouldn't have charged you for the ice".

"No problem if it is on the menu: if it is (extra ice bucket 3 € ) you should have read it before ordering. If it is not on the menu it is illegal. It is not that difficult," a third added.

Barbeito clarified in a follow-up post that he did not want to “bother” anyone at the establishment but hoped a worker would recognize the bill and advise management against charging diners for a glass of ice.

Do you think he's right to complain about the extra charge?
