A man in Singapore has launched a $3 million lawsuit against a woman who rejected him as he claims that she caused emotional "trauma".
Kawshigan is suing Nora Tan after she broke his heart, telling him she had no interest in a romantic relationship with him, as reported by Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times.
Per the paper, Kawshigan filed two lawsuits against her, including a $3 million High Court claim in July 2022 that stated the woman caused "damage to his stellar reputation" and "trauma, depression, and impacts" to his life.
According to him, comments Tan had made, led to him losing earnings from his business partnerships and having to shell out huge amounts for therapy due to the trauma that she allegedly caused him.
The second lawsuit was a $22,000 magistrate's court claim, filed in August, in which Kawshigan claimed that Tan had violated their agreement about working on their relationship.

He said that this had a catastrophic effect on the earnings he received as an "active high-capital trader by night and a busy CEO by day." He also claimed that it meant he had to find "deeper psychological assistance."
State Courts deputy registrar Lewis Tan struck out the $22,000 claim as it was "manifestly groundless and without foundation," as reported by The Straits Times.
The judgment, which was published earlier this week, stated: "Considered in totality, I find that the present action was intentionally initiated by the claimant with the ulterior motive of vexing or oppressing the defendant by requiring her to defend various claims that fundamentally stem from the same factual matrix in different forums."
"This court will not be an accessory to his calculated attempt to compel engagement from the defendant who, after years of massaging the claimant’s unhappiness, has finally decided to stand up to his threats rather than cower and give in to his demands," it added.
According to the publication, Kawshigan and Tan first met in 2016, later becoming friends. In September 2020, things changed as Tan saw the man as merely a "friend" while Kawshigan thought of her as his "closest friend".
Tan then told him that she needed space from him and urged him to be "self-reliant". The month after, Kawshigan wrote her a letter in which he told her he would be filing a lawsuit with a claim for "monetary damages arising from negligent infliction of emotional distress and possible defamation," reports Straits Times.
Tan tried to have a rational conversation with the aggrieved plaintiff, to no avail. Kawshigan insisted that she comply with his wishes or face "irrevocable" damage to her professional reputation. Kawshigan's therapist also contacted Tan in order to ask her to become involved in his sessions.
But more than a year later, she stopped going to therapy with him. Then in April 2022, she started harassment proceedings against him.
