A woman in California gave birth to twins who were born just minutes apart in 2021 and 2022.
Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo's babies were born at Navidad Medical Center in Salinas, California, People reports. The couple's daughter was born just 15 minutes after their son.
"Natividad welcomed Aylin Yolanda Trujillo as the area's first baby of 2022!" the hospital tweeted on Saturday.
"Her twin, Alfredo Antonio Trujillo, was born 15 minutes earlier at 11:45 pm Friday, December 31, meaning their birthday falls on a different day, month, and year — a 1 in 2 million chance!"

Aylin weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces. and was the first baby born at Natividad Medical Center and in Monterey County in 2022. Her big brother, Alfredo, weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce.
"It's crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays," Madrigal said, per People. "I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight."
A doctor who works at the hospital, Dr. Ana Abril Arias, called it "one of the most memorable deliveries of my career," the outlet reported.

"It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022," she said. "What an amazing way to start the New Year!"
Meanwhile, Madrigal’s twins will be welcomed home by their three older siblings, two girls and a boy. Madrigal said her oldest son is excited that one of the babies was a boy. She says her family couldn’t wait to meet them.
Similarly in a separate rare occurrence, an Indiana woman's twins were born on different days, months, and decades after being born just 30 minutes apart, WRTV reported.

According to the report, one baby was born on December 31, 2019, and the other was welcomed into the world on January 1, 2020.
Dawn Gilliam and Jason Tello welcomed twins Joslyn and Jaxson. Joslyn was born on December 31, 2019, at 11:37 PM. Her brother was born 30 minutes later at 12:07 AM on January 1, 2020. At the time, Gilliam said she was "in shock".
There are about 120,000 twin births in the US each year, making up over 3 percent of all births, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
