A woman has gone viral on social media after claiming that she sent out 76 job applications and did not receive one single request for an interview.

Kayley - who goes by the handle @kayleyalissa on TikTok - has struggled to find work ever since she was laid off from her job back in May.

In a video, Kayley explained that she has spent the last eight weeks sending out 76 applications for digital marketing and social media jobs.

"Y’all, I have been off work for nine weeks," she said in the video. "I was laid off in May. My company downsized and eliminated my position. I was completely blindsided by that."

Check out her video below:

"I took literally one week off to be sad about my life, and then I started putting in applications," Kaley continued. "In these last eight weeks since I’ve been putting applications, I’ve put in 76 applications."

"For local work, remote work, a lot of marketing, digital, social, where my strengths lie and where I know I’m very good at my job," she added.

The TikToker said out of all the 76 applications, she has not had a single response or interest in an interview, which makes her question what her next step should be.

"Y’all cannot tell me that companies are struggling - that they don’t have any workers - when you’re not hiring anyone. I don’t know what to do at this point," Kayley said.

"I have the most beautiful elaborate resume, I have a really detailed resume, I have a beautiful cover letter and it’s all a scam," she concluded.

The video had garnered 195,000 likes and 1.4 million views at the time of writing and prompted other users to share how they’ve struggled to find a job in this current market.

One user wrote: "No but for real tho it took me five months to find a job."

Another user shared: "This frustrated me as well, when I was looking for a new job, I applied to at least 30 jobs, not 1 callback, email, or interview."

A third user commented: "I feel ya sis! I’m in the same position. And what’s with having an interview and no call to say yes/no? They ghost you."

A fourth wrote: "Honey, I’ve put in over 450 in the last 4 months. It’s interesting to see no one hire a qualified candidate, but yet they are hurting for employees."

Other users offered suggestions to Kayley as she navigates her job search, with some recommending that she revamps her current resume, or send follow-up emails to companies she applied to.

In a follow-up video, the TikToker posted an update on her job search on the social media platform on Saturday (August 6). She thanked her followers for messaging her after the video amassed many views and for helping her on this journey.

"Guys, the response from the video I posted about not being able to find a job was overwhelming," she said. "I have a new resume and it has already gotten me two interviews!"
