Washing your hands after using the restroom is a given, right? Well, it turns out that not everybody believes so as one woman has sparked an online debate after declaring that she walks out of the bathroom with her hands dry.

From an early age, most of us will be taught basic hygiene which hopefully involves regular washing to keep germs away as well as any unwanted odors.

One of our first milestones in life will have been moving from diapers to using the potty before working up to the main event - the toilet.

But after you've done your business and touched all the unsanitary parts of the restroom such as the toilet lid and the handle to flush, it's customary to wash your hands, right?

Sophia uploaded a video to TikTok which shows that not everybody washes their hands after peeing, and it turns out that many people are the same.

The viral video shows the TikToker in her bathroom as she begins: "I’m going to expose myself because I feel like it’s really weird that I do this and I don’t know if other people do this."

Sophia continued: "But I don’t always wash my hands after I pee, especially if I’m in my own house, right? I know how to pee in a way that doesn’t make a mess on myself."

Now most of us don't wash our hands because we've urinated over them (hopefully), but Sophia takes it a step further and reveals that she pretends to wash her hands if she has guests.

"I do this thing where if I have guests over and I go to pee, I’ll turn my sink on and pretend to wash my hands, and kill some time so that they think I have washed my hands but I haven’t," she continued.

Sophia concluded by asking if others are the same as her while stating: "So I actually go through the process of wasting both water and time just to kind of keep up with a lie that actually doesn’t matter."

Safe to say, not everybody in the comments was thrilled at her declaration, with one person questioning: "Why pretend to wash your hands when you could actually do it?"

A second added: "I'm a washer not a walker. All those germs from the toilet handle, to the taps to the door handles to every surface you touch in your house. Nope!"

Though it would seem that some agreed with Sophia, as a viewer appeared to yell: "IVE [sic] NEVER RELATED TO SOMETHING MORE IN MY LIFE."

A second confirmed that it's not uncommon to not wash after peeing by writing: "I found my people."
