A woman has started an online debate after she admitted to only showering three times a week.
After finding out that her friends all showered every day, the mom of two took to Mumsnet to find out if other people thought she was "gross".
But her search for solidarity quickly backfired - as some people in the comments section described her hygiene habits as "grim."
She described how the topic first came up, writing on the forum: "Ok so I'm having a few drinks with friends last night."
She continues: “We are all-female mix of parents and non-parents. One friend mentions she is struggling to find time for a shower every day since she had her baby. I said ‘well I don't shower every day without a young baby’. All of my friends looked at me in horror."
The woman was shocked to discover that all of her pals showered every day.
"Apparently even the ones with kids shower daily," she wrote.
To make sure people were getting the full picture, the woman went on to describe her weekly routine.
"Full disclosure I have two dd [darling daughters] one under five and I work part-time. I shower on workdays plus one extra day so usually three times a week," she explained, before adding: "My days off usually consist of playing at home, walking [the] dog, school run, and maybe [the] park.
"I would shower extra if exercising/having sex/on period etc. I bath my dc [darling children] three times a week. My oh [other half] works out every weekday so he does shower more than me."
She finished by asking the forum if she was being "disgusting".
Unfortunately for her, quite a few users thought that she was.
“Personally I think 3 times a week is pretty grim, sorry," one wrote, adding "I am a shower everyday person. I can’t get going in the morning without one to be honest.”
"I shower every day. Its just 'normal' too," agreed another.
Meanwhile, for one user even a daily shower didn't cut it.
"Twice a day for me (three times when been to the gym or for a swim, etc). My husband is the same," they wrote.
However, others were more supportive.
"That’s absolutely fine. If you don’t smell then there is no need to shower," one commented.
"There is nothing wrong with showering 3 times a week if you don't need a shower on the in-between days," added another.
