In high-stress situations, it’s easy to do something stupid. Whether it's a baseball player choking at the plate or an actor forgetting their lines, all of us have - at some point or another - done something inexplicable when we’re in the spotlight.

Naturally, some of these mistakes are more costly than others, especially where crime is concerned.

A British criminal this week discovered that he’s less iceman and more startled chicken after he was apprehended in a drug bust in one of the humiliating ways imaginable.

After being spotted by police on the M5 highway, the driver of a white van had a decision to make about the $30,000 worth of cocaine currently sitting next to him on the passenger seat.

In a moment of blind panic, with the police rapidly approaching, the man did the only thing that seemed to make sense - hurl his stash out of the window and swallow the cost.

But unfortunately for him, he forgot to actually open the window...

The result was an expensive explosion of white powder that coated the inside of the vehicle, and presumably him.

The local police force shared a photo of the aftermath of the incident, accompanied by the caption:

“This van was stopped on the M5 on its way into Devon. The white powder is approx £25000 worth of cocaine which was scattered all over the cab after its owner tried to throw it out of the window (which was closed!!). Great Team effort with Firearms, Traffic and Scenes of Crime.”

Remarkably, this isn’t the only recent drug-related incident that has recently concerned the Devonshire police force.

On Friday, officers seized around $150,000 worth of cannabis during a drug bust. Admittedly, this incident involved slightly less criminal idiocy, but it was still incredibly significant.
