Elon Musk has promised to make it up to a bakery owner who had a $16,000 order canceled at the last minute, leaving her "high and dry" with thousands of pies.

As previously reported, Voahangy Rasetarinera - the owner of California's The Giving Pies - expressed her frustration over what she described as Tesla's betrayal when they supposedly reneged on their agreement at the last minute.

The saga unfolded on Valentine's Day when Rasetarinera received a monumental order for a staggering 4,000 pies from a Tesla representative, reportedly in honor of Black History Month, as per NBC Bay Area.

Initially, things seemed promising as Tesla approved the quote provided by Rasetarinera. However, the anticipated payment from Tesla's vendor failed to materialize, leaving Rasetarinera anxious about the situation.

Upon seeking clarification, Rasetarinera claims she received an apology from Tesla, with the representative attributing the mishap to their vendor's inexperience. Instead of resolving the payment issue, Tesla allegedly surprised Rasetarinera by requesting to double the order.

Despite the strain this placed on her bakery and staff, Rasetarinera agreed to the increased order, mobilizing her team to work tirelessly, even at the expense of canceling other orders and purchasing additional ingredients.

However, just as Rasetarinera thought she was meeting Tesla's demands, she allegedly received a heart-wrenching text message from the Tesla representative, saying: "It unfortunately sounds like we will be changing plans and will not be needing this order."

The sudden reversal left Rasetarinera and her business facing significant losses exceeding $16,000.

Taking to Facebook, the bakery owner penned: "This abrupt reversal left me reeling, realizing the extent of the impact on my small business. I had invested time, resources, and effort based on assurances from Tesla, only to be left high and dry."

After her misfortune made headlines, it looks as if the story has now made its way to Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, who has promised that the situation will be rectified.

"Just hearing about this. Will make things good with the bakery," Musk assured in a post on his platform X on Friday afternoon. "People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best."

Rasetarinera used the situation to explain the challenges that small businesses face, writing: "This experience serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by small businesses when dealing with larger corporations.

"Despite our best efforts to uphold our commitments and provide quality service, we are often left at the mercy of decisions made in corporate boardrooms."

She went on: "While Tesla's actions may have caused temporary setbacks, they will not deter me from pursuing my passion and serving my community with integrity and pride. And though the scars of this experience may linger, they serve as a testament to the strength and resilience of small businesses everywhere."

Let's hope Elon can smooth things over with the business owner.
