Amanda Bynes has officially filed to have her conservatorship legally terminated.

As reported first by Page Six, the 35-year-old She's The Man star has been in a conservatorship under her parents - Lynn and Rick Bynes - since 2013.

According to the outlet, Bynes filed a petition on Wednesday at Ventura County Superior Court in California. The conservatorship oversees both her person and estate.

Speaking to People, Bynes' attorney, David A. Esquibias, said: "Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary."

Lynn Bynes was granted a temporary conservatorship over her daughter back in August 2013, after the former Nickelodeon star reportedly started a fire on a driveway. Amanda's mother regained conservatorship over her daughter in October 2014, People reports.

The actor had also been battling reported substance abuse issues, legal troubles, and displayed concerning behavior in controversial Twitter rants.

Disregarding reports that the conservatorship was ever extended through to 2023, Esquibias told People: "It is open day-to-day. A status report regarding her health and welfare was recently filed and approved by the court. By law, the next status report is due in two years. Her conservatorship will terminate when it is no longer convenient for Amanda."

Additionally, per NBC News, the actor's parents are reportedly very supportive of the decision, with attorney Tamar Arminak saying on Friday: "The parents are happy, thrilled to get this good news.

"The professionals say she is ready to make her own life choices and decisions and are so proud of her. They 100% support her decision to end the conservatorship."

People adds that Bynes currently lives by the beach is studying for her degree at California's Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising after earning her associate's degree cum laude in Merchandise Product Development in 2019.

Back in October 2020, Esquibias described the Easy A star as "very entrepreneurial".

In 2018, Amanda thanked her parents for helping to get her "back on track" during an interview with Paper magazine.

A hearing on the petition is currently scheduled to take place on March 22.

The news comes after Britney Spears was granted a release from her highly-publicized conservatorship back in November.
