Bindi Irwin has revealed a major change in her life, announcing to fans that she has temporarily left Australia behind.

The beloved wildlife conservationist and TV personality, 27, shared the unexpected update with her millions of followers on Instagram and Facebook over the weekend.

In a short video filmed quietly while her young daughter Grace was asleep, Bindi explained that the move had been a whirlwind decision.

She said that while Australia Zoo remains the family’s forever home, she, Chandler, and Grace had packed their bags for a new adventure in the United States.

For now, Los Angeles will be home base. But it’s not a permanent relocation. The Irwins are planning to spend around three months in California before returning to their beloved life at the Zoo.

So what prompted the sudden shift across the Pacific?

It turns out the move is all about family. Bindi confirmed that she wanted to be close to her younger brother Robert as he steps into the international spotlight with his upcoming appearance on Dancing With the Stars.

“About 10 years ago, I competed on the show and actually won with my amazing partner Derek Hough,” she said. “It was a life-changing experience… and now my little brother’s going to be on the show! Except he’s not so little anymore,” she laughed.

Bindi – who recently came out to raise awareness of endometriosis, a gynaecological disorder she's been battling for the past 10 years – said she wanted to be in the audience each week to cheer him on, just as her family had supported her during her own journey.

“I can’t wait to support him and maybe share some advice here and there. He is going to shine, though, and I know in my heart he’s going to make it far because he is such a fantastic human being.”

Grace, now three, is also ready for the ballroom. Bindi revealed her daughter has already picked out her “audience dresses” to wear to the live shows. “If you’re wondering who will be cheering the loudest in the audience, it will definitely be me and Grace,” she wrote in her caption, adding the hashtag #DWTS.

The video also captured a candid glimpse of life as a young mum on the move. “The time zone difference is real when you fly from Brisbane to LA,” she joked softly, explaining that she had to keep her voice down so Grace could rest after the long-haul journey.

Robert, meanwhile, has described joining Dancing With the Stars as a lifelong dream. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid watching my sister’s incredible journey on the show back in 2016,” he shared earlier this year in a promo for the show. “I cannot believe it is about to become a reality. So grateful.”
