Disneyland's refurbished Snow White ride has divided visitors, with some people slamming the end scene where the Prince wakes the sleeping heroine with a kiss.

Per the Daily Mail, Disneyland in Anaheim, California, finally reopened on Friday, after being closed to the public for over a year as a result of the pandemic.

As Disnerds rushed back to the "Happiest Place on Earth", they were treated to a revamped version of the 'Snow White's Scary Journey' ride - now called 'Snow White’s Enchanted Wish' - which is based on the 1937 animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

With updated animatronics and all-new scenes, visitors experienced a more light-hearted journey, as the previous incarnation of the ride focused more on the Evil Queen.

However, after staying true to the movie's ending, reviewers for California-based publication SFGate have hit out at the ride for its "problematic" conclusion.

Just like the movie, riders witness the moment a cursed Snow White is awoken with a true love's kiss from the Prince, an iconic moment I'm sure many of us have seen since we were young.

But in an article penned by Katie Dowd and Julie Tremaine, the scene was slammed, as the Prince delivers the kiss "without her consent, while she's asleep".

The article goes on the explain that the act "cannot possibly" be one of "true love", as Snow was unaware the kiss was happening.

Describing consent in early Disney movies as "a major issue", the article continues: "It's hard to understand why the Disneyland of 2021 would choose to add a scene with such old fashioned ideas of what a man is allowed to do to a woman".

And following the recent changes announced for the Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain rides, the article questioned why the Snow White's ending wouldn't also have been "re-imagined" to avoid the "problem".

However, after posting the article to their social media feeds, many Disney fans disagreed.

Responding to the post, one person wrote: "Let’s think of this is a just fantasy world. Otherwise, let’s imply the Good Samaritan Laws. A kiss is to save her life."

Another added: "It's a fairy tale, who cares, stop making mountains out of molehills for the sake of boosting ratings via clickbait nonsense."

A third bluntly added: "Wow! Quite possibly the stupidest article I’ve ever read."

Other social media users have simply described the criticism of the ride as "stupid" and "garbage".

But what are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments section.
