Dean Cain isn’t backing down after announcing he’s officially joined the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement—and he’s making it clear he doesn’t care what the haters think.

The former Lois & Clark star faced a wave of backlash after appearing in a recruitment video for ICE. Now, in a fiery interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Cain says he’s proud to stand with the agency—and is calling out those who are “pillorying” him for it.

“Go Ahead and Denigrate My Career”

Cain, 59, didn’t hold back during the August 11 appearance.

“I'm 59 years old and I've joined ICE,” he said. “Go ahead and denigrate my career. But what I'm doing is I'm standing up for the men and women of ICE. I'm a sworn deputy sheriff. I'm a reserve police officer. I have been for almost a decade now.”

Cain insisted that ICE agents are being unfairly targeted for doing a job they were hired and authorized by law to perform.

“They are being 'vilified,’ 'attacked' and 'doxed' for ‘trying to do their job’ that the ‘American people hired them for’ and the ‘Congress wrote laws for,’” he said.

“They're doing it very, very well,” he added.

From Recruitment Video to Sworn In

According to Cain, the controversy began after he participated in a recruitment video, which sparked rumors that he had joined the agency. After speaking with ICE officials, he decided to make it official.

“I'm 100% proud to stand with our agents of ICE,” Cain declared. “I love these people. They're wonderful men and women and husbands and fathers of every ethnicity, every race, every background.”

Clapping Back at John Oliver

Cain also responded directly to Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, who criticized his involvement with ICE.

“I'll happily take the jibes of John Oliver,” Cain said. “I'm being pilloried and attacked for joining up with a federal law enforcement agency. (It) is insane. I did it to protect Americans and to protect our men and women of ICE.”

“So Yeah, You’re an Untrained Former Actor”

The segment got especially heated when political strategist Tim Miller joined the discussion and questioned Cain’s qualifications.

“So yeah, you’re an untrained former actor,” Miller quipped.

Cain didn’t skip a beat.

“I’m a former actor,” he responded. “I’m a former professional football player, too. So, want to run down your resume? I mean, it’s so stupid.”

He then blasted what he saw as an attempt to discredit him based on his past professions.

“Denigrating somebody because they're doing this because of what they used to do or what they do or whether they're an actor or a writer or a newscaster is ridiculous. It's an ad hominem attack,” Cain said, while again reminding viewers of his law enforcement background.

Whether critics like it or not, Dean Cain is now standing side by side with ICE—and he’s not backing down from the spotlight.
