Dean Cain, known for his role as Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has made a significant announcement: he is joining U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to back Donald Trump's anti-immigration policies.

This decision comes at a time when ICE's immigration enforcement actions have drawn widespread attention due to increased raids and mass deportations.

Cain's move comes shortly after he shared a recruitment video from ICE on his Instagram account, which was highlighted by Fox News host Jesse Watters.

During an appearance on Fox News Wednesday evening, Cain explained his decision to become an ICE agent: "I’m actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer – I wasn’t part of ICE, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy,” he said. “So now I’ve spoken with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP."

Cain expressed his belief that joining ICE was the right choice, emphasizing his desire to contribute to Trump's immigration agenda. He stated, “This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing.”

He further stated his position on the current state of U.S. immigration policy: “We have a broken immigration system. Congress needs to fix it, but in the interim, President Trump ran on this. He is delivering on this. This is what people voted for. It’s what I voted for and he’s going to see it through, and I’ll do my part and help make sure it happens.”

Cain also hopes to inspire others to follow his lead, saying, “I’m stepping up. Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers, former ICE agents, will step up and we’ll meet those recruitment goals immediately, and we’ll help protect this country.”

ICE's aggressive actions, especially since Trump’s re-election, have sparked controversy and led to widespread protests. The agency has increased its daily arrests to 3,000, detaining not just undocumented individuals, but also people with legal status and even U.S. citizens. Many have found themselves caught up in a deportation system that is increasingly criticized for its disregard for due process.

This has led to public outcry, as well as the imprisonment of protestors and individuals filming ICE arrests. However, Cain is resolute in his decision, stating that the need to secure the country is more important than the protests.

Cain's political stance also came under scrutiny recently when he criticized the direction of Hollywood, particularly in regards to Superman’s portrayal. He voiced his concerns about the recent character reinterpretations in Hollywood, calling the latest Superman film "woke."

Speaking with TMZ, Cain questioned how far the industry would go in modifying classic characters to reflect contemporary societal issues, saying, "How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?”

Referring to Superman’s origins, Cain continued, "We know Superman is an immigrant – he’s a freaking alien … The ‘American way’ is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly. But there are rules … There have to be limits, because we can’t have everybody in the United States. We can’t have everybody, society will fail. So there have to be limits.”

As Cain prepares to join ICE, his decision signals a further alignment with Trump’s hardline stance on immigration, and it remains to be seen how his role within the agency will unfold as its controversial tactics continue to draw both support and criticism across the U.S.
