Liam Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has revealed that they intended to get married before the singer tragically passed away.

As you're probably aware, Payne, 31, passed away on October 16 after he fell from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina.

He had been vacationing with Cassidy in the South American country, but she had left a couple of days prior to the incident.

Cassidy, a 25-year-old social media influencer, had been sharing glimpses of their trip online before deciding to return home to Florida.

She had been with Payne for two weeks, although the original plan was to stay for just five days.

She explained in a TikTok video that was posted two days before Payne's death that she "hate[s] staying in one place for too long."

During her flight home, she noted that she was sat in seat 1D, which she joked is short for One Direction.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Cassidy has opened up about her partner's death, including details about how they planned to get married.

She penned: "I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words.

“I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now."

She continued: "You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.

“You are – because I can’t say were – my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did.

“Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into. None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side."

Cassidy went on: "Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things. Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself.

“I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."

Cassidy then went on to explain that just a "few weeks ago" the couple sat down and began "manifesting [their] lives together."

She then revealed she had a "note" from the singer that she has kept "close" during this difficult time.

According to Cassidy, it said: "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444”.

She concluded her post: Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned.

"You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go."

Our thoughts continue to be with Payne's loved ones during this difficult time.
