Sister Wives star Garrison Brown is said to have sent "troubling" messages before his death by suicide at the age of 25.

On Tuesday (March 5,) reality star Janelle Brown took to her Instagram page to announce the heartbreaking news that her son had sadly passed away.

"Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown," the 54-year-old wrote. "He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him."

"His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory," she concluded.

Lieutenant Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed Garrison's death to PEOPLE, stating: "On 03/05/2024 Flagstaff Police officers responded to a report of a death inside a home."

According to a police report, obtained by TMZ, officials spoke with Janelle, who said he sent "ominous" final texts to "some people the day prior" to the tragedy.

Janelle reportedly told law enforcement that "Garrison had texted a group of people that the Brown family works with [presumably from their show]," per the outlet.

One message that he is said to have sent read: "I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can't. I miss these days."

While Janelle reportedly did not receive any of these messages, when she was informed about them, she "texted Garrison" directly.

They then had a "brief conversation for a few minutes before he stopped responding."

She then asked her other children to "see who could go check on Garrison."

Garrison's 22-year-old brother Gabriel agreed to do it and found Garrison dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona, on Tuesday.

As reported by TMZ, "some" of Garrison's three roommates "heard a pop on Monday night... but didn't think it was a gunshot' and 'none of them' checked on 'Garrison to see what happened."

When Gabriel found his brother's body and called 911, "that's when the roommates say they realized" Garrison was dead.

TMZ reported that the "roommates say Garrison was known in the household to struggle with alcohol."

But had no idea that his older brother was struggling as he seemed to be "doing okay on his own" after he got a new job at a medical facility.

Janelle also told the authorities that her son was estranged from his father, Kody.

In February of 2022, Kody revealed in an episode of Sister Wives that he and Garrison and his other son Gabe were "not good" and "not talking" as clashed over the protocols he put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It's changed everything for everybody, and they want it all to be the same - they need to realize that they should go and date that girlfriend, that's fine, but you need to move out of the house so I can be home," he said.

In an episode of Sister Wives, Janelle said in a confessional that she felt Garrison "just seems angry or sadder, like, he's not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be."

"I have worried about my boys' mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he's also the kid who doesn't say anything," she said.

Garrison later moved out of his parents' home and went on to settle in Arizona in 2021.

Kody spoke about the drama concerning his sons in a 2023 episode of the TLC show, saying he was devastated over the way things had gone.
