The woman who thinks she may be missing girl Madeleine McCann has suddenly shut down her Instagram account following a statement released by the Polish police.
Over the past few weeks, Julia Wendell, who used to go by the Instagram handle @iammadeleinemcan, has been convincing millions of people online that she is actually the young, British girl that went missing while on vacation with her family in Portugal back in 2007.
The 21-year-old has made some bold claims over the past few weeks, stating that she has specific features that link her to Maddie including a "speck" on her eye. She also claimed that she doesn't remember large chunks of her childhood but added that she was abused by a German man who bears a similar resemblance to one of the suspects in the Maddie case.
Though there have been millions of dollars poured into trying to find the young girl, she still remains a missing person.
In a recent statement, the Polish police declared Julia wasn't in fact Madeleine.
Polish outlet Gazeta previously claimed Pawel Noga of the Provincial Police Headquarters in the western city of Wroclaw "ruled out" her claims after meeting with her family.
However, Dr. Fia Johansson, who is helping Julia in her bid to find answers about her life, wrote off the statement, saying that "it was all lies."
"We started to investigate this situation for 45 minutes and what we got back... [was that] no police officers whatsoever in Poland said that she is, or she is not, Madeleine McCann. No official record whatsoever went out... it was all lies," Dr. Johansson said.
"We actually have a letter from officers from the biggest police station in Poland. [They] gave us a statement [saying] there is absolutely no police or legit person - like police, a private investigator or detective - who gave any statement [saying] that Julia is not Madeleine McCann."
She also went on to suggest that the Polish police couldn't even make such claims based on other laws.
"If any Madeleine McCann case or missing persons, which is an international missing person in Poland... it has to be a lawyer or detective from other countries that were involved [who] ask for... some form of collaboration with Polish police.
"He [a police spokesman] said: 'Polish police would never get involved in the Madeleine McCann case without any force from another organisation not in our country.'
"When they can't even open a case about Madeleine McCann in this country, how come... some police officers [can] say she's not Madeleine McCann.
"That statement [from Polish police] was absolutely false," she concluded.
In the wake of the statement, Julia's official Instagram account has been deactivated now as well as her Facebook and TikTok.
According to the Irish Mirror, before deleting her Instagram, she wrote: "If you don't like me, please unfollow. I don't want fans or followers. I closed my Facebook account and TikTok so people can't make fun of me."
It has not yet been determined if Julia deleted her account herself or if it was removed by the platform.
