Two British builders who met Paul Murdaugh and his girlfriend Morgan on a 2017 vacation in the Bahamas have revealed the story on a viral TikTok video.

Paul, 22, and his mother Maggie, 52, were murdered in June 2021 on their South Carolina property by Paul's father Alex Murdaugh, a prominent lawyer.

This year 54-year-old Alex stood trial for the double homicide and was eventually sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Speaking to the jury during his trial, Murdaugh insisted: "I did not kill Maggie, and I did not kill Paul. I would never hurt Maggie, and I would never hurt Paul, ever, under any circumstances," per The Telegraph.

The two UK handymen - who go by the handle @thenakedbuilders on TikTok - recounted the story of how they met Paul while on vacation almost six years ago, taking to the app to post a video that has since been viewed over one million times.

In the clip, the men - who had kept in touch with Paul after the holiday - admitted they had no idea what happened to him until they watched a popular Netflix docuseries centered around his prominent family and the tangled web of lies that surrounded them.

The Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal chronicled a 2019 incident during which a heavily intoxicated Paul crashed a boat with several friends on board. It sadly claimed the life of 19-year-old Mallory Beach.

"Were a little bit late to the story on this, but me and Max were on Netflix the other day and we've come across Paul and Morgan," one of the builders, Alex, said in the video. "And we know them - like this ain't no joke, we actually know them. We stayed in contact with Paul all this time and just seen him on Netflix - it's absolutely blown our minds," he added.

He then includes a clip of Paul that was taken on the night they met. In the video, Alex asks Paul: "What do you think of the English?"

Paul responds: "I think I'm coming to England and I'll be there and I'm gonna learn the accent and learn how to work it - and me and my boys are gonna have a good time!"

Also included in the video are screenshots of Instagram DMs sent between Paul and Max. The first message, from Paul, shows that he wanted the party-loving Brits to remove the video of him from social media. He wrote: "Max good to hear from you man! If you don't mind take that video down. Me and that girl in it are no longer dating and are not supposed to have any contact. Thanks, hope things are going good with you!"

Another screenshot from Max's final conversation with Paul was in May 2021, around the time he was set to face court (and potentially 25 years in prison) for his involvement in the 2019 boat crash. The messages show Paul asking when he could come and visit the two Brits.

At the end of the video, Alex and Max admit that they thought Paul wasn't responding to their messages because he simply didn't want to talk to them anymore. Little did they know he had passed and his father was in the process of a gripping murder trial.

Alex Murdaugh is set to appeal his conviction, however, as his legal team believes he did not receive his right to a fair trial.
