A mother has divided the opinions of social media users after admitting that she throws out her kids' toys when they refuse to put them away.

The mother - who goes by the TikTok handle @tabathamarie - took to the short-form video app to upload a video of how difficult it has been to get her five-year-old son to clean his room. In the clip - which has been viewed over 3.4 million times - Tabatha revealed that she'd asked her son to clean his room two days in a row.

Tabatha shows viewers the piles of toys littering the room. She then told the camera that when she asked her son for the last time, he responded with: "No, you clean it Mommy." So, Tabatha said: "Okay, I will do that. Gladly," deciding to teach her son a lesson by taking all of the toys on the floor and shoving them into big white garbage bags.

As Tabatha takes a clip of the clean room, she adds a text overlay that reads: "Momma is not raising no disrespectful men. It is not a [mommy's] job or [woman's] job to do anything. You make the mess, you clean it up. You see momma struggling, help her. Don't sit there and let a woman struggle [period]. My babies will learn this quickly."

Naturally, many people had important opinions on the matter. Like this person, who apparently firmly believes Tabatha did the wrong thing. "Are you serious? He is 5 [years] old. It is your job to help him at that age. You cleanup the room TOGETHER. So clearly you Are the lazy one. Poor child," they wrote.

Someone else mirrored this opinion, adding: "Judging by the toys, he's too young for that entire responsibility. If you want it clean start by helping him and then work up to him doing it alone."

A further user wrote: "My mom used to do something similar at a very similar age. it traumatised me forever and in adult life cleaning is still an extremely stressful task."

Though, other users commended Tabatha - who later revealed that she didn't really throw the toys out, and that she'd only pretended to do so to teach her son a lesson.

"Good job mom! People that don't agree, also have the kids that don't respect anyone, including their parents," one person wrote.

Someone else added: "I'm 18 and my mom did that when I was probably 10 because I refused. And after that week with no toys I learned real fast to clean after myself."
