As the search for Jay Slater is in its fourth week, the missing teen's father has called for help from Interpol.

Slater, 19, went missing in Tenerife on June 17 after attending the NRG music festival.

The teen was seen partying at the Papagayo nightclub the night before he vanished, but questions remain as to why he left the nightclub with two older men.

Slater went on a journey by car to the remote village of Masca, instead of returning to his accommodation with friends in nearby Los Cristianos.

Warren Slater, Jay's dad, has expressed his deep frustration over the lack of official assistance in the search for his son.

He is now urging British authorities and Interpol to step in.

The search for Jay, an apprentice bricklayer, was called off by Spanish police on June 30. Since then, Warren has been advocating for increased involvement from international law enforcement.

"We need to, as a full family, do a proper press conference and ask the British authorities to help. He’s a British citizen. Get Interpol involved," Warren told Mail Online.

The distraught father highlighted the challenges they face without expert help.

"It’s just us. I haven’t got a team. We need a team to come over here and find out for us what the police are doing and what we need to do," he said.

"Our hands are tied over here, we need experts. How long can you stay here for? It’ll take an army 10 years to cover all this. I’d employ a team of Gurkhas."

As the search enters its fourth week, Warren and Jay’s brother Zak continue to comb through the "treacherous" gorge near Jay's last known location.

They are joined by a small group of local volunteers, but the need for professional assistance remains pressing.

In a recent update on their GoFundMe page, which has raised over £50,000 ($64,000), Debbie Duncan, Jay's mom, shared: "We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support we have received and would like to thank the local hiking group for all of their help planning the routes to find our Jay."

She continued: "We have been contacted by a wonderful group of locals who have volunteered to continue the search. While they don’t wish to accept financial help for their search, we will be supporting them with supplies and are so grateful for their willingness to help."

Duncan went on: "We also continue to be contacted by experienced groups offering to support our search.

"We are busy talking to them about what they can do to assist. But in order for us to employ their help, they need to have permission from the Spanish authorities."
