Slater, 19, went missing in Tenerife on June 17 after attending the NRG music festival.

The teen was seen partying at the Papagayo nightclub the night before he vanished, but questions remain as to why he left the nightclub with two older men.

Slater went on a journey by car to the remote village of Masca, instead of returning to his accommodation with friends in nearby Los Cristianos.

The hunt for Jay is in its fourth week, and although Spanish authorities called off the search, new leads have reignited theories about his potential whereabouts.

Tenerife police allegedly believe there is a chance Jay may still be alive in a different part of the Canary Island.

According to an insider, officers are actively investigating at least three significant leads in the case.

Despite concluding the ground search for Jay, authorities have stated there are still "several lines of inquiry" being pursued.

"Even though the ground search for Jay is over, the investigation into where he might be remains very much open,” a Tenerife source told The Sun, revealing that police are exploring at least three promising leads.

"One line of inquiry is a theory that Jay might even be in a different part of Tenerife and still alive. All scenarios are being kept in mind. The case is very much open because there are still a number of unanswered questions which officers must find answers to," the source added.

Jay's family has launched an unofficial search in the Rural de Teno Park area, where Jay was last seen.

Jay’s uncle, Glen Duncan, has expressed hope for "more communication" from the police as the family grows increasingly desperate to find him.

Glen expressed the family's determination in an interview with Sky News in Santiago del Teide.

"We have to be doing something," he said, emphasizing the family's commitment to finding Jay.

Describing their situation as "just desperate - despair," Jay's uncle highlighted the emotional toll the search has taken.

Despite the lack of progress, the family remains hopeful and stated that they won't stop searching until Jay is found.

"We're going to have to be doing something because otherwise, you're just sitting in the apartment staring at the same four walls," Glen said.

In a recent update on their GoFundMe page, which has raised over £50,000, Debbie Duncan, Jay's mom, shared: "We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support we have received and would like to thank the local hiking group for all of their help planning the routes to find our Jay."

She continued: "We have been contacted by a wonderful group of locals who have volunteered to continue the search. While they don’t wish to accept financial help for their search, we will be supporting them with supplies and are so grateful for their willingness to help."
