Netlfix's latest true crime docuseries delves into one of the most high-profile unsolved murders in UK history.

This month, the streaming giant will release its newest binge-worthy docuseries, Who Killed Jill Dando?

The three-part series dives deep into the unsolved murder of beloved BBC journalist and TV presenter Jill Dando, whose life was shockingly cut short back in 1999.

In April of that year, 37-year-old Dando was brutally shot dead on the doorstep of her home in Fulham, southwest London. A household name in the UK, Dando's death sparked one of the largest homicide investigations in UK history. Yet, despite the fame she garnered and the manpower put behind her case, the investigation hit a dead-end and her killing remains an unsolved mystery to this day.

Check out the gripping trailer below:

Born in Weston-Super-Mare, Dando's career in television started on regional news broadcasts, before finally signing a contract with BBC News.

After landing presenting roles on shows like Holiday and Songs of Praise, she would go on to become a household name hosting the BBC show Crimewatch, which would reconstruct unsolved crimes in an effort to inspire the public to come forward and share information.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Dando's killing was reconstructed and shown to the public on the May 1999 edition of the show.

Calls from viewers initially led police onto a new line of inquiry, and saw the eventual arrest of suspect Barry George.

Despite being convicted for Dando's killing, George was acquitted in August 2008 following an appeal.

The Netflix plot synopsis sets the chilling stage, explaining: "British broadcasting legend, Jill Dando, was killed by a single bullet on her doorstep in 1999 in broad daylight.

"Despite one of the biggest homicide investigations in British history, the murder remains unsolved. This three-part series takes viewers through the twists and the turns of a true crime mystery as her family, friends, journalists, investigators, and lawyers wrestle with the question: Who Killed Jill Dando?"

A trailer for the series depicts Dando as "the nation's sweetheart" and the "golden girl of British television," while also teasing several theories regarding who might have been behind her untimely demise.

And response to the trailer has been full of intrigue. Under the YouTube video for the trailer, one person commented: "Jill Dando's case is oddly intriguing and fascinating. Seems like there's more to the overall investigation than meets the eye."

A second added: "The scope of suspects is so wide when you host the most high-profile real crime show in the country trying to find the UK's most weird and dangerous."

Mark your calendars, the show is set to premiere on Netflix on September 26th.
