Netflix users are calling one of the platform's newest shows "the best thing" they've seen in years.

Last month, the streaming giant released its eight-part limited series, Bodies. Check out the gripping trailer for the show below:

The crime drama tells the story of detective Shahara Hasan (played by Amaka Okafor), as she attempts to solve a bizarre murder case after a body is found on the streets of London.

What Hasan doesn't know is that the same body was also found in the same location in the years 1890, 1941, and 2053, where three other detectives also tried to get to the bottom of the mysterious case.

As well as Okafor, the show also stars SAG Award winner Stephen Graham, Olivier Award winner Kyle Soller, Emmy nominee Shira Haas, and The Queen's Gambit star Jacob Fortune-Lloyd.

Based on the sci-fi/murder mystery graphic novel by Si Spencer, the new series was created by Paul Tomalin, and the show's time-traveling take on the police-procedural genre has left viewers in awe, with many fans taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their praise for the eight-part series.

"The show Bodies on Netflix is one of the best shows I’ve seen this year," one viewer wrote, with a second agreeing: "#BODIES on Netflix is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and I’m not even done the series."

A third added: "Just watched the first two episodes of #bodies on @NetflixUK Wow, absolutely gripping. Set over four different time periods, yet interconnected. It's complex but riveting so far. Might be one of the best shows I've seen in years if it keeps this up!"

"Just finished watching Bodies on Netflix. Insane television. Wow," added a fourth.

And other reviewers have also been just as kind - with the show boasting an impressive 7.4/10 on IMDb and an 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Tomalin described the series as "mind-snapping" - something that promises viewers a "kinetic, ambitious thrill ride."

"It’s a police-procedural show that shifts and transforms from moment to moment, so you never know what’s coming next," he explained, calling the show "a wolf in [a] detective drama’s clothing".

Additionally, Stephen Graham - who is quickly being recognized as one of the UK's best active actors - hailed Tomalin and fellow writer Danusia Samal for "keeping it fresh and exciting".

Given that the show takes place in four vastly different time periods, Graham also spoke out about the show's incredible sets, adding: "The sets on this show are magnificent, and… the intricacies and the attention to detail are phenomenal. [...] You walk on set and you’re there in that world because they create it so beautifully.”

So, if you were after your next series to binge, look no further. Bodies is available to stream on Netflix now.
