A 14-year-old alt-right comedian named 'Soph' has provoked intense scrutiny by uploading a video to YouTube which appears to mock hijab-wearing Muslims.

A Buzzfeed journalist has accused the minor, a high school freshman from the Bay Area, of bigotry against Muslims. As a result of the furore, YouTube has now removed the video.

The article, entitled: 'YouTube’s Newest Far-Right, Foul-Mouthed, Red-Pilling Star Is A 14-Year-Old Girl', draws attention to a video called: 'Be Not Afraid', in which Soph dresses in a chador and sarcastically states that she has become a "devout follower of the Prophet Muhammad".

She continues:

"Suffice to say, I’ve been having a f**kton of fun. Of course, I get raped by my 40-year-old husband every so often and I have to worship a black cube to indirectly please an ancient Canaanite god - but at least I get to go to San Fran and stone the s**t out of some gays, and the cops can’t do anything about it because California is a crypto-caliphate."

However, the article in question appears to have kickstarted the 'Streisand effect' on the teenager's channel, with her gaining a further 880,000 followers just one day after the Buzzfeed article was published. The adolescent later tweeted the author of the article, Joseph Bernstein, writing: "'I cannot thank you enough @Bernstein."

A spokesperson for YouTube has since issued a statement addressing the issue, claiming: "YouTube is an open platform where anyone may post videos as long as they comply with our Community Guidelines. This may include content that some find offensive."

"We enforce our policies rigorously and last quarter alone removed more than 8 million videos. Responsibility remains our number one priority and we continue to invest heavily in our teams, technology and processes to protect the platform."

The adolescent first began streaming and blogging at the age of nine, as a gamer and Let's Player using the handle 'LtCorbis'. She claims that she writes her scripts with a collaborator, but edits and scores her videos herself. Back in 2018, another one of her videos was banned after she threatened YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Buzzfeed writer Bernstein is no friend to the alt-right comedy scene, after he vocally criticised the supposedly-right-wing Adult Swim comedy sketch show Million Dollar Extreme: World Peace, created by Sam Hyde, Nick Rochefort, Charls Carroll, and Andrew Ruse. As a result of the controversy provoked by Bernstein's articles, (which embroiled comedian Tim Heidecker and Mike Laslo in the debate) World Peace was cancelled, to the ire of its cult fanbase.
