The President of the United States recently shocked a nation and beyond when he mistakenly referred to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky as President Putin - the man he's currently at war with.

The blunder occurred while Biden was at an event celebrating the Ukraine Compact, a bilateral agreement unifying countries in their support of the war-torn nation, at this week's Nato Summit in Washington D.C.

"And now I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine who has as much courage as he does determination," he said. "Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin."

Biden caught his mistake, heading back to the microphone to tell the crowd in attendance that “we’re going to beat President Putin,” but not before people in the room called out the correction.

"I’m so focused on beating Putin," he added, hoping to mask his error.

The painfully awkward moment has gone viral online with many pointing out that Biden might not be the best person to be running an entire country if we can't even get simple things like names correct.

"This is a horrible mistake he made," wrote one user after the video was posted to X.

"The biggest mistake I have seen in my life-time. Live," another added.

"This is a damaging error. Let's see how the press conference plays out though. But, yikes," a third commented.

However, it seemed as though the Ukrainian president actually took the accidental name switch pretty well, smiling and stating "I'm better," as he took to the podium.

"You’re a hell of a lot better," Biden responded.

Have a look at the clip below:

This is not the first major blunder we've seen from Biden this week.

Yesterday (July 11), the president arrived to try and convince Democratic officials as well as voters that he is fit enough to continue campaigning against Trump for the next four months, let alone serving another four-year term in the White House.

He was asked several questions including: "What concerns do you have about Vice President Harris' ability to beat Donald Trump if she were at the top of the ticket?"

Biden responded: "Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump, to be vice president, if she's not qualified to be president, so let's start there," he said, before correcting himself.

Asked later whether he would step down if polling data showed that Harris would fare better against Trump, he whispered: "No one’s saying that."

So I guess the war against Trump vs Biden to secure the White House continues, albeit with very little pazazz.
