Donald Trump appears to fall asleep during live White House press conference
Fresh concerns about Donald Trump’s suitability to be US President have arisen after he appeared to fall asleep during an Oval Office press conference.
Trump was in attendance at the White House event when he seemed to lose consciousness, slumping and closing his eyes.
Donald Trump is getting older and health concerns aren’t going away
The debate about Donald Trump’s health has been ongoing ever since he returned to Pennsylvania Avenue.
From strange makeup on his hands and mysterious ‘signs’ noted on his body, there are some who believe that Trump is not in great physical condition.
Given what we know about his age and his diet, that wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.
However, he’s definitely starting to show some signs of wear and tear, completely normal for a man who will be 80 in June.
Regardless of his cognitive test results, which he tells us are among the best anyone has ever seen, he’s still a man in decline - it’s just something that happens to everyone.
Trump appeared to doze off in the Oval Office
Viewers were quick to notice Trump’s apparent slide into the Land of Nod while he was listening to a discussion about pharmaceutical pricing deals with biotech company Regeneron officials.
Sure, it’s not the most compelling subject matter, but he is the President of the United States, so he has to at least feign an interest in it.
However, during the period when officials were talking behind him, Trump could be seen closing his eyes and seemingly drifting away to sleep, with his mouth drooping at the same time.
If he was just intently listening, he was doing so in a way that really looked like he fell asleep;
Joe Biden - nicknamed ‘Sleepy’ Joe Biden by Trump during their acrimonious run for office - must have been laughing somewhere.
Online opinions are divided.
One person said: “He might be dozing off but that's how he does when he trying to listen as well.”
A second wrote: “How is this not the lead story on every cable news network and printed press? He seems to fall asleep everyday like this.”
A third commented: “He is worse than Biden now. He should be in bed, not in the Oval Office.”
However, one Trump supporter said: “That what you got out of lower drug prices? You and your cult should pay the higher prices until you learn to stop being so one-sided.”
Another said: “Ok but that dude literally made me sleepy…what did he say? It’s completely incoherent…I’d pass out too.”
Either way, these concerns about Trump’s health and fitness for office aren’t going to go away, as he approaches his 80th birthday, those calls for him to step down - or be removed - will only get louder.
