Donald Trump provides a major update on the $2,000 checks that he promised to almost all Americans

Donald Trump has provided a significant update on the $2,000 checks that he has promised to nearly everyone in America, and this time it pertains to how the money will actually be funded.

As many have mentioned before, it’s simply not as clear-cut as you might imagine.

The debate about Donald Trump’s $2,000 checks rumbles on

At this point we have come at this news story from every angle - who is set to be eligible for the checks, what makes them eligible, whether it is a good idea or not, and whether it will happen at all.

We’ve also had a dive into the potential dates for the checks to be handed out to US citizens, although there might be more to that than meets the eyes as well.

One thing we haven’t extensively covered is how the checks will be paid for - because it hasn’t exactly been clear yet.

Now, we’ve got a statement from the President on the matter.

Of course, he issued it on his very own Truth Social platform, outlining the plan for giving the thousands of dollars to Americans on low to moderate incomes, regardless of their employment situation.

So, how is Donald Trump planning to put the money together?

According to some estimates, the whole thing could cost $600 billion to fund.

Obviously, that’s a lot of dough, but that is the figure that the Committee for a Responsible Budget landed on.

The tariffs that Trump placed on foreign imports into the USA in April have currently raised $90 billion - which it is worth mentioning was paid for by US businesses, who likely then passed that onto their customers.

But that’s a story for another day.

The main takeaway is that there is a big difference between $90 billion and $600 billion.

Speaking on the aforementioned Truth Social, Trump promised that tariff revenue would ‘skyrocket’ soon, helping fund his big plan.

Trump added that Americans have not yet seen ‘the full benefit of the tariffs’.

“[T]he full benefit of the Tariffs has not yet been calculated in that many of the buyers of goods and products, in order to avoid paying the Tariffs in the short term, ‘STOCK UP’ by purchasing far more inventory than they can use,” the POTUS explained.

He continued: “We are already the ‘hottest’ Country anywhere in the World, but this Tariff POWER will bring America National Security and Wealth the likes of which has never been seen before.”

So, we’ll have to see how that ramps up, but one thing is for certain - this story isn’t going away.
