The driver who killed a bride shortly after she and her new husband departed their wedding is set to be released from prison.

On Friday (March 1), The New York Post reported that 26-year-old Jamie Komoroski - the accused DUI driver facing four felony charges - posted a $150,000 bond and is set to be released from jail at some time today.

Komoroski was arrested last year after driving into a golf cart that was carrying newlyweds Aric Hutchinson and Samantha Miller, 34, from South Carolina.

Samantha was killed as a result of the collision.

Aric was left battling several devastating injuries, with one leg requiring surgical intervention. His facial bones also required surgical repair, alongside broken vertebrae in his back, brain hemorrhages, and numerous cuts necessitating stitches.

The crash occurred on April 28, 2023.

A judge had previously denied Komoroski bail, but did rule that she could be released on bond if her trial date was not scheduled before March 2024.

Komoroski will reportedly be placed under house arrest in Charleston County, South Carolina. The Post reports that, according to jail records and sources close to the situation, she will have to wear an ankle monitor

In the days following, a GoFundMe was set up by Aric's mom, Annette, who took to the description to reveal further horrific details of the crash which claimed the life of her new daughter-in-law.

"Aric lost the love of his life when my new daughter-in-law Samantha 'Sam' Hutchinson was tragically killed by a drunk driver moments after the picture above while leaving her wedding reception on April 28th in Folly Beach, South Carolina. My son is now in critical condition," Annette wrote.

She went on to add that her son-in-law Benjamin Garrett and her grandson Brogan Garrett were also involved in the accident.

The GoFundMe raised more than $730,000.

In an affidavit obtained by the New York Post, police reported that Komoroski was driving at 65 mph (104 km/h), causing the golf cart to roll several times.

Komoroski was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury/death and one count of reckless homicide, per CNN.

Last year, Samantha's devastated husband spoke to Good Morning America about the loss of his new wife, saying: "I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. That night, going from an all-time high to an all-time low, it's pretty rough to try to comprehend."

"She was so happy," he continued, telling the outlet that the pair were feeling fulfilled being surrounded by their family and friends on their big day. "I mean, planning a wedding, as most people know, is extremely stressful. And she just had a weird, like, calmness that night."

"I do remember the last thing I remember her saying was she wanted the night to never end," he added, before adding that the next thing he remembered was waking up in the hospital room and asking "Where's Sam?"

"That's when [my mom] told me there's an incident and that Sam didn't make it," he told GMA.

Meanwhile, Komoroski has recently hit headlines after it was reportedly that she had been planning her own nuptials from jail.

In a jailhouse conversation obtained exclusively by the New York Post, Komoroski tearfully outlined her own wedding aspirations to her father.

Speaking from the Al Cannon Detention Center, expressed her longing for her father's presence at her future wedding, telling him: "I want you to be at my wedding. I want you to walk me down the aisle."

During the emotional call, Komoroski also expressed her deep affection for her boyfriend, Evan Tatro, who has remained steadfast by her side throughout the ordeal.

In previous calls with her family, Komoroski leaned on her faith for support, saying: "I just wanted to let you guys know I'm okay and that this is a part of God's plan. I think it's going to pan out for the best, and everything is going to be okay. I think it’s a part of God's plan."

As well as his injuries and the grief of losing his new wife, Aric is now reportedly facing a legal battle against Samantha's mother over control of her estate.
