The alleged drunk driver who is accused of killing a bride on her wedding day spoke about her "future self" on a phone call with her sister from jail, in which they discussed how things are never as bad as they seem.

Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, was arrested last year after driving into a golf cart that was carrying newlyweds Aric Hutchinson and Samantha Miller, 34, from South Carolina, on April 28, 2023.

The collision, which happened as the couple were leaving their wedding reception, left Miller dead and Hutchinson with several devastating injuries including a broken leg, facial injuries, broken vertebrae in his back, and brain hemorrhages among other issues.

While Miller's life ended that night and Hutchinson was left a widower moments after getting married, newly released phone calls obtained by the New York Post appear to show Komoroski looking forward to her future as she spoke with her sister from jail.

According to the outlet, the phone call between Komoroski and her sister Kelsi took place on October 8, and saw the pair discussing the future despite her facing up to 25 years behind bars.

The outlet reports that the 26-year-old told her sister that she "trust[s] that everything is going to work out," adding: "It’s so funny because when you’re in a bad situation, you’re so upset and you’re distraught.

"But in the future when you see your future self looking back at that time, you wish you could tell yourself in that moment: 'Stop freaking out, stop crying, it’s going to be OK. You’re happy now. And there’s no point being so upset. Everything is going to work out.'

"No matter how bad it is in the moment. It’s going to work out."

Komoroski, who police say was three times over the legal blood-alcohol limit when her Toyota struck the golf cart carrying the bride and groom, was released from jail on Friday and is now under house arrest after being granted bail with strict conditions.

She is currently awaiting trial on four felony charges including reckless homicide, and her bail was granted by a judge if Charleston County couldn't bring the case to trial by March 1.

In the call, Komoroski's sister was heard offering words of support and telling her that everyone has times when they feel like "it’s the end of the world," but it never is, to which Komoroski responded: "Right."

She added: "Two years down the road, you’re living your best life and you’re so happy and it’s OK. You’re fine.

"You can’t control everything. It’s very peaceful to just sit there and be like 'I can’t control the situation right now, all I can do is the best next thing.'

"Bad s**t is going to happen. It’s how you handle it. It’s important to try and remember the universe is going to keep on keeping on and what’s meant to be will be."

Prosecutors have alleged that as well as being over the limit, Komoroski was also speeding when her car slammed into the back of the golf cart, which was carrying the bride and groom as well as two wedding guests.

According to jail records, Komoroski was granted bond and released from the Al Cannon Detention Center in South Carolina at 3:16 p.m. March 1.

She is required to wear a GPS and Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor device and remain under house arrest in Charleston County as part of her bail conditions, and is only allowed to leave her approved residence in the case of a medical emergency or to attend court.

As part of her bail conditions, she is also required to surrender her passport and is not allowed to drive.

Her attorney, Chris Gramiccioni, said on Friday before her release that Komoroski is "not a flight risk or danger to the community."

Her lawyers had previously sought to have her released on a $100,000 bond with the condition that she would enter a substance abuse rehab program, citing her lack of prior criminal history and strong support from her family.

A trial date is yet to be set.
