Disturbing items found at the scene of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's fiancé's death
Authorities have revealed some of the chilling items found at the scene of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s fiancé's death.
Ken Urker was found dead at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday (October 1), his 34th birthday.
Blanchard had become worried after he didn't reply to a birthday message that she sent him.
It was confirmed by the Lafourche Sheriff's Office that they had responded to a residence in Raceland at 6:15PM on Thursday, where Urker was found dead.
They stated that the investigation into his death is ongoing.
Blanchard later suggested that she suspects the cause of death may have been an overdose, noting that he had not been in a good state of mind recently, though official details regarding the situation remain under investigation.
Now, items found at the scene of Urker's death have started to fuel theories.
Items found in Urker's residence
It has been revealed by Page Six that Urker was found with drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun at the time of his death.
A report obtained on Friday detailed that after 'deputies entered [Urker’s] residence through the front door,' they were 'able to see Mr. Urker from the living room area lying on his back in the bed.'
The report went on: “Deputies walked in the direction of the room and located paraphernalia (syringes and spoon) in the bathroom next to a brown powdery substance,
“Deputies located a syringe and a handgun on the nightstand next to the bed.”
They said that Urker 'was found lying on the bed on his back, cold to the touch, and appeared to have been there for an extended period of time.'
The police report said his face and arms were blue, while he had 'a paper towel placed on his left arm with what appeared to be blotches of blood on the paper towel'.
“The handgun on the night stand was holstered laying [sic] next to two shot glasses and a syringe,” authorities detailed.
Gypsy Rose’s family member Anita Blanchard was responsible for contacting authorities for a welfare check after Urker failed to show up to work.
The report said of Anita's call: “They stated Mr. Urker made comments of being depressed and upset,
“They advised he made a TikTok live video at approximately 2300 hours. They advised that he just had the video going while he was driving without him saying anything.”
911 call log obtained
The publication got a hold of the 911 call, where Anita revealed that Urker was 'in a dark place', having previously made threats to take his own life, revealing that he had a gun.
She said he 'was drinking' the night before his death, with the transcript later claiming: “Someone called her saying that her brother is dead and shot himself. Caller wants to know if he is ok.”
A cause of death is yet to be revealed.
The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office said in a statement to Page Six: As you all know, an autopsy was conducted this morning on Mr. Urker.
"At this time, there is no definitive cause of death. The case remains pending completion of toxicology testing.”
Gypsy Rose told People in a statement, “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”
The couple met in 2017 during her prison sentence for the murder of her mom, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, and share a child.
Tragic loss and online scrutiny
In a statement posted to her Instagram Stories, Blanchard paid tribute to Urker while condemning the harsh behavior directed toward him across various digital platforms. "Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase," she wrote.
She added in a separate carousel: "You will always be my greatest love story. You will be remembered and loved forever. ❤️"
Blanchard emphasized the toll that social media attention had taken on Urker over time. "Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit," she stated.
"The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure. I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment."
