Gypsy Rose sent Ken Urker a two-word text message shortly before his death - and there was no reply
Gypsy Rose Blanchard knew something was wrong when she sent her partner, Ken Urker, a simple two-word text message on an important day...and he never replied.
Blanchard came to public notoriety after being jailed for the murder of her abusive mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, along with her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn.
After serving eight years of her sentence, Blanchard was released from prison in 2023. Just three months after her release, she filed for divorce from Ryan Scott Anderson, whom she had married while behind bars. She then entered a relationship with Urker, to whom she was previously engaged in 2018.
The couple, together since 2024, share a daughter together - but yesterday it was announced that Urker had suddenly died at the age of 34.
The text Gypsy Rose Blanchard sent to Ken Urker that set off alarm bells
Ken Urker was found unresponsive at his home in Louisiana on October 1 by a family member, after Blanchard became concerned that her partner hadn't answered her text, in which she'd wished him happy birthday.
The couple share one daughter together, Aurora Raina Urker, who was born in December 2024.
In a statement to TMZ, Blanchard paid tribute to Urker, saying: "Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved.”
She continued: "[He will] forever be my soulmate and my red string. A connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase”.
No cause of death for Urker has been publicly reported.
Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard and what was her relationship with Ken Urker?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard rose to fame (or notoriety) after she was arrested for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee, alongside her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.
After the pair was arrested, details emerged of the severe psychological and medical abuse Blanchard endured from her mother, who had convinced both Gypsy and the outside world that Gypsy was chronically ill.
Blanchard started a relationship with Godejohn after the pair met online. Dee Dee Blanchard was stabbed to death in her home in Springfield, Missouri, on June 14, 2015.
Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Godejohn was found guilty of murder in the first degree and got a life sentence without the prospect of parole.
Blanchard's case quickly became national news and spread even further thanks to an eight-part mini-series, The Act, which dramatised her life and the murder of Dee Dee, starring Joey King as Gypsy Rose and Patricia Arquette as her mother.
In 2018, Blanchard and Urker initially connected whilst she was serving her sentence in jail. Urker proposed to her, but the relationship was called off for unknown reasons. In 2022, Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson but soon divorced him after she was released from prison in 2023.
