Gypsy-Rose Blanchard breaks silence after fiancé Ken Urker dies on his birthday
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has spoken out after the death of her fiancé Ken Urker on his 34th birthday.
She described him as an ‘amazing father’ but also said he had been the victim of ‘relentless cyberbullying’ before his death.
Ken Urker dies aged 34
Urker, who was once engaged to Gypsy Rose and was the father of her child, turned 34 on Thursday, but was found unresponsive at his home in Louisiana.
In response to the incident, the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office said: “We responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival.
"At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”
TMZ reports that Gypsy-Rose first started to suspect that something was wrong when her text wishing him a happy birthday was ignored.
It was her brother Dylan who reportedly found Ken.
The pair were engaged while Gypsy-Rose was serving jail time for the murder of her mother, but the pair eventually split and she married Ryan Anderson.
However, she went back to Ken, and the pair have a 21-month old daughter together, Aurora Raina Urker.
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard issued a statement
Speaking to People, Blanchard said: “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think,
“I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”
Then, in a further statement, she said: “Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved.
"He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”
Her statement continues: “Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora.
"She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us.
"I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”
Urker dealt with cyberbullying, Gypsy-Rose claims
Blanchard claimed that Urker had dealt with an ‘unimaginable level of public scrutiny’ and ‘relentless cyberbullying’ as well as claiming that he endured 'cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.’
That cruelty, she said, had a ‘profound impact’ on him.
In her statement, Blanchard said that she believes he died from an overdose, although that has yet to be officially confirmed.
“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” she said.
“He was not in a good state of mind lately.”
Gypsy-Rose became known to the public after the 2015 murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard.
She eventually plead guilty to second-degree murder and was imprisoned from 2016 to 2023.
