It has been confirmed that Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was sentenced to 10 years for conspiring to kill her own mom, will be released from prison early on parole.

The story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard has had the world hooked.

From the outside, what looked to be a loving relationship between a mother-daughter duo was actually riddled with secrets and lies, so much so that it led to the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard.

Throughout her life, Gypsy was falsely diagnosed with extreme medical conditions, undergoing surgeries and suffering interventions she did not need thanks to the lies her mom told medical professionals.

Shortly after Gypsy was born in 1991, her mom claimed that she had sleep apnea - a condition that causes the breathing to stop and start while a person sleeps - and things only continued to escalate as a whole string of other fabricated illnesses also followed, including leukemia and muscular dystrophy, which confined the little girl to a wheelchair for a massive portion of her life.

It was only later on that experts discovered that there was actually nothing wrong with Gypsy and instead, her mother was suffering from Munchausen by proxy syndrome, a disorder that sees a person fake sickness on behalf of another.

After years of living under her mother's control, Gypsy decided she was going to get a man she met on a Christian dating website, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her.

She asked him the question knowing that Nicholas, who was her boyfriend at the time, had some mental health issues of his own including multiple personality disorder, and had previously been in trouble with authorities after watching adult content in a McDonald's while touching himself inappropriately.

After some back and forth on the manner in which Dee Dee would be killed, Nicholas came over to the house one night in June 2015 and repeatedly stabbed the unknowing mom while she was asleep.

Both Gypsy and Nicholas were caught and sentenced to prison for their parts in the crime but, it seems as though the now 32-year-old will be released early on parole.

As per the Springfield News-Leader, Missouri's Department of Corrections has confirmed that she will be released on December 28 - after serving just seven years of her original sentence.

In a previous interview with Dr Phil, Gypsy was open about the fact that she did not believe she received the right sentence.

When asked whether she deserves to be in prison, she responded: "To be honest, I have complicated feelings about that. I believe firmly that no matter what murder is not okay. But at the same time, I don't believe I deserved as many years as I got."

"But for you initiating the sequence of events she would still be alive?", Dr. Phil questioned. "So in that sense, you are responsible for her death? What would be a just punishment?"

"I'm not really certain on that," she told him. "I do believe that I do deserve to spend some time in prison for the crime, but also, I understand why it happened and I don't believe I'm in the right place to get the help that I need [...] At the time I knew I was being abused but I didn't know exactly what kind of abuse it was."

She also added: "I just knew that I wasn't allowed to do a lot of things and my mother was the reason. She would force me to be in a wheelchair and forced me to go to doctors' appointments that I didn't need. I just wanted that life to stop. Ultimately I didn't want her dead, I just wanted that life to stop and that life to be dead."

Nicholas will continue to serve his life sentence behind bars.
