Marjorie Taylor Greene slams Trump after president gave shocking explanation as to why he thinks Rob Reiner was found dead

Marjorie Taylor Greene has blasted Donald Trump after the president gave a shocking explanation as to why he thinks Rob Reiner was found dead.

As widely shared, the Hollywood director and his wife, Michele Reiner, were discovered brutally murdered inside their Los Angeles mansion on Sunday (December 14).

According to authorities, both victims had suffered stab wounds. There were no signs of forced entry, and the case is being treated as an “apparent homicide.”

The LAPD confirmed that the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested at 9:15PM that night and officially booked by 5:04AM the following morning, BBC News reported.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has listed the case as a felony-level offense, handled under LAPD’s gang activity division. He remains in custody at the LAPD Jail Division.

Trump responds with bizarre claim about cause of death

While the investigation into motive continues, President Trump weighed in with his own wild theory - blaming what he calls “Trump Derangement Syndrome” for Reiner’s death.

"A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood,” the 79-year-old posted on Monday to Truth Social.

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS," he said.

He continued, "He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump… May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"

Marjorie Taylor Greene Responds To Trump's Post

Greene - once a vocal supporter of Trump - swiftly condemned the president’s statement, calling it inappropriate and out of touch.

"Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak," she penned.

She said that the couple's death is a "family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies," adding: "Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues."

The 51-year-old, who resigned from Congress after falling out with the president publicly, concluded: "It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy, especially when it ends in murder."

Reiner's outspoken criticism of Trump

The late filmmaker, a fierce political voice in recent years, frequently criticized the president.

In a February 2024 interview with The Guardian, he warned that Trump posed a threat to democracy.

“Do we want to continue 249 years of self-rule and American democracy? Or do we want to turn it over to somebody like Donald Trump who has said that he wants to destroy the constitution?” he said. “He’s a criminal who basically lies every minute of his life.”

Months earlier on MSNBC, Reiner declared: “Make no mistake. We have a year before this country becomes a full-on autocracy and democracy completely leaves us.”

Tributes pour in as family mourns

Rob and Michele tied the knot in 1989 after meeting on the set of When Harry Met Sally..., and shared three children: sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy.

The tragedy has rocked Hollywood and political circles alike. Reiner’s eldest daughter, Tracy, whom he adopted during his marriage to actress Penny Marshall, said she was “in shock” following the news.

“I came from the greatest family ever,” she told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”

Tracy, who has appeared in films like A League of Their Own, Apollo 13, and Die Hard, is married and has five children.

Former President Barack Obama wrote a heartfelt message on X, which read: “Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele… They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired.”

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said Reiner “always used his gifts in service of others,” while California Governor Gavin Newsom called him a “big-hearted genius” who made California “a better place through his good works.”

Author Stephen King added: “I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele. Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including 2 of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”

Our thoughts are with the couple's loved ones at this time.
