Thomas Markle has claimed that he first heard news of his granddaughter Lilibet's birth on the radio.
Per Cosmopolitan, the 76-year-old father of Meghan Markle spoke about how he first heard of the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's second child in a recent interview with 60 Minutes Australia.
In a segment broadcast on Sunday, June 13, the retired lighting director stated that he had not been notified personally either by Meghan herself, her representatives, or a by a representative of the British Royal Family.
Markle previously disclosed that he had slammed the phone on Prince Harry in a heated call:Markle, who claims to have never met his two-year-old grandson Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor either, stated: "No phone calls. I just heard it on the radio. I haven't spoken to [Meghan] since two days before [she] got married."
He continued:

"That's a cold thing to do… None of this makes sense... I don’t think there are any problems that can’t be worked out. I've said I'm sorry about the initial problem... I'll never give up hope. [sic]"
Per HuffPost, Markle went on to criticize Oprah Winfrey, accusing her of taking advantage of the couple for the sake of publicity. He expressed his hope that he might be able to reunite with his daughter and meet his grandchildren one day.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child into the world in an announcement made on Friday, June 4.
Their baby girl was named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in honor of the childhood nickname of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
Per People, the press secretary for the Duke and Duchess said in an official statement: "It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.
"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 AM in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well and settling in at home."

The statement continued: "This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
"The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family."
According to the above publication, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has delivered the reaction of the British Royal Family to the news, stating:
"The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex."
