Thomas Markle, the father of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, has stated that he will be "very disappointed" if he never gets to hold his granddaughter.

Per The Metro, the 76-year-old's comments were shared in a short trailer for his interview with 60 Minutes Australia, which is due to air on Sunday, June 13.

Take a look at the trailer below:

In the promotional video, Markle can be seen pleading with his daughter to re-establish contact with him, and asking for forgiveness for his "dumb mistake". Although no details were given on this "mistake", it's safe to assume he is referring to the staged photographs he arranged with the paparazzi ahead of his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.

The retired lighting engineer went on to state: "I’ll be very disappointed that I don’t get to hold my granddaughter."

The trailer ends with Markle teasing: "You want dirty laundry? This is the first time I've discussed these things."

Thomas Markle previously disclosed that he had slammed the phone on Prince Harry in a heated call:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child into the world in an announcement made on Friday, June 4.

Their baby girl has been named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, in honor of the childhood nickname of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

Per People, the press secretary for the Duke and Duchess said in an official statement: "It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.

"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 AM in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well and settling in at home."

The statement continued: "This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

"The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family."

Per the above publication, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has delivered the reaction of the British Royal Family to the news, stating:

"The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex."
