Nanny, 24, killed in Learjet crash made final call to sister minutes before plane plunged 35,000ft
The nanny who was one of nine who died in the horrific Learjet 60 crash in Florida made an emotional final phone call to her sister minutes before perishing.
It was revealed shortly after the crash in Palm Beach County that those on board included entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 44, his wife Helen Sharp, their four-year-old daughter Emma, and their two-year-old son Charlie.
The family was traveling with their nanny, Anita Maria Ramirez Cetina, and two close friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.
Disturbing audio between crew members, 55-year-old captain Jeff Gregory and 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, was also made public following the crash on Sunday (November 1).
It revealed that they were warned about weather conditions by Air Traffic Control (ATC) minutes before crashing.
Now, the sister of nanny Anita, known affectionately as Ana, shared how their final call went.
Anita's final call to her sister
Anita was just weeks from her 25th birthday as she boarded the doomed Learjet 60 flight bound for the Bahamas.
Sadly, her life would be cut short as the aircraft dropped from 35,000 ft to the ground in just 76 seconds and burst into a ball of flames on Sunday.
The crash left a massive crater behind, with debris found up to 3.8 miles away, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Anita, a biomedical engineer, had arrived in the US from Colombia two years ago and was on the phone to her sister before the plane took off.
Angie Ramirez Cetina recalled their conversation on that fateful morning, as her sister was excited to be going to the Bahamas for the first time.
Speaking to the US Sun, Angie explained: "We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,
"She was very happy. She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it."
Anita was traveling with the Robinson family to celebrate the birthday of dad Adam Robinson, a tech entrepreneur.
Her sister remembered how gracious she was to the Robinson family, and how much she loved their two kids, Emma, four, and Charlie, two.
“She loved the job she had. She loved the children very much. She loved the Robinson family dearly,” Angie said.
Angie's reaction to her sister's death
Anita's sister heartbreakingly saw a video of the aircraft exploding into a fireball on social media, quickly checking the plane's flight path afterwards.
She remembered: “I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane,
“But later, my mom called me on Monday morning and confirmed to me that yes, it was the flight Ana Maria was on.”
Their family has been distraught since the crash, as Angie recalled the 'many things' and 'memories' she shared with her late sister.
She last saw Anita in July, when she gave birth to her son.
Angie said of her sister's relationship to her newborn: “Something that will stay with me forever was that she was there through my whole journey with my son, from the beginning until the day I had him, through my postpartum recovery, she was right there.
“She adored my son. He was practically the apple of her eye. She and I were inseparable.”
