People stunned after seeing reconstruction of Florida private jet's terrifying 35,000ft plunge in just 76 seconds
A video reconstructing the final moments before a private jet plummeted to earth, killing at least nine people in Florida and explaining how or why it happened, has shocked people online.
At around 1PM on Sunday, November 2, a private jet reportedly worth $2 million nose-dived into the ground, exploding with a huge fireball and creating a massive crater, just nine miles from President Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort.
How did the tragic incident happen?
In an informative animation posted by X account elteslaengineer, the narrator explained how the "Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County went from 35,000 ft to the ground in 76 seconds."
By rebuilding the last three minutes in 4D from ADS-B, ATC audio, a NEXRAD analysis and dashcam video, the engineer calculated how the plane went down so quickly.
According to the video, the plane, which was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas before it smashed into the Greenacres mobile home community, "went down about 200 nm short of its destination."
It is thought this could have happened due to adverse weather conditions because "15 minutes before the crash, a nearby NWS station reported thunderstorms in the vicinity, 3 mi visibility, gusts to 19 kt."
Moments later, at 12:47PM, the jet flew into the core of a storm that had a height of 47,000 feet. Rather than flying over it, the aircraft went right through the eye of the storm, which caused it to climb 450 feet. Just 20 seconds later, it began the terrifying 35,000 feet plunge to its combustion.
A mere ten seconds after the descent began, a crew member made the petrifying mayday call to the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center while the plane was falling at 10,000 feet per minute.
The crew knew exactly what was happening and the end was very near
In the chilling recording of the call, the pilot said: “We’re descending 8,000 - mayday, mayday - we’re descending 10,000 feet per minute."
Without taking a breath, she then desperately added: “We are in an overspeed condition, descending 20,000 feet per minute.
“We’re going to crash into the ground,” she added with a terrified scream.
Around 45 seconds later, the aircraft hit the ground and exploded in a ball of fire, landing on the grounds of a community for modular and mobile homes just outside Palm Springs, Greenacres.
Aviation 24/7 reported that the aircraft caught a tree on the way down, bringing power lines crashing down, making a noise so loud “it sounded like a missile.”
Although authorities have confirmed there are "multiple fatalities", they have not yet disclosed whether that includes people on the ground.
While no one who was killed in the crash has been publicly identified yet, the Learjet60 was reportedly registered to a private business, LR60271 LLC, in Wilmington, Delaware.
