It's been a big year for Kiari Kendrell Cephus, although you might know him better as Offset. After entering a whirlwind romance with fellow rapper Cardi B in 2017, the performer got married in September. Shortly afterwards, he welcoming his fourth child into the world; a daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus, in July 2018.

All in all, it looked like the year was going fantastically for the Walk It Talk It star. However, it recently took a downward swerve when he was reportedly arrested just 10 days after welcoming his new child.

Offset was arrested outside of Atlanta on Friday afternoon, with CBS reporting that police initially pulled the Migos rapper over because the car was "failing to maintain its lane". After stopping the 2014 Porche 911 Carerra, police apparently searched the vehicle and found "three guns, less than an ounce of marijuana and more than $107,000 in cash."

TMZ claims that the new daddy is facing four charges in total, including two felony gun charges ("possession of a firearm by a felon" and "possession of a weapon during a crime"), as well as a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession, and a misdemeanor charge for making an "improper lane change." In addition, his bodyguard was allegedly charged with "possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a weapon during a crime."

Offset reportedly spent the night behind bars and was later released from a Georgia jail on Saturday morning just after 10am, afterwards returning home to his wife Cardi B and their newborn daughter Kulture. Amid gossip, the 26-year-old's lawyer was keen to set the record straight about the incident. Speaking to E! News, Drew Findling stated on Saturday that his client was innocent of any offences and was determined to focus on his family, saying:

"Offset is home with his wife and newborn daughter. His most important focus right now is to be with his wife, children and family. Having been educated on this case in the last 24 hours, he did not commit any traffic offences besides being a young African-American man in a flashy car wearing nice jewellery. He has a security team that have licenses to possess firearms and he did not physically have any firearms in his possession. We will have to deal with this in court and address these legal issues. I am confident in telling you he is 100 per cent innocent."

Offset's wife Cardi B was also eager to separate hearsay from fact, taking to Instagram Stories to clear things up. After posting a picture of her and her husband together with the caption "Home", the Bodak Yellow star dispelled any rumours that Offset was on probation, writing "For the record Offset is NOT ON PROBATION" alongside some irritated emoji faces.

Let's hope the family can wade through the legal process as quickly as possible and return their attention to their newborn baby.
