Despite social media users being left confused - no, former US president Donald Trump did not have his pants on back-to-front while delivering his GOP speech this weekend.

Per The Independent, on Saturday, June 5, the ex-POTUS appeared at a Republican Party convention held in North Carolina, where he claimed that China should be made to "pay reparations" over the COVID pandemic.

However, a number of Twitter users had trouble focusing on the speech itself, and instead couldn't help but notice that the pants of the blue two-piece suit Trump was wearing appeared to be on backward.

The photos and videos of the GOP conference quickly picked up more and more traction on social media, and soon started trending on Twitter under the hashtag #TrumpPants.

Several Twitter users then started sharing pictures of Trump's outfit and speculating on whether or not he truly had worn his pants back-to-front (which, of course, he had not).

One Twitter user even went as far as mocking up a humourous diagram illustrating the whole debacle.

Meanwhile, another person made an allusion to the fly that infamously landed on former Vice President Mike Pence's head during a televised debate, writing: "No fly on Trump's pants? I think I know where it went."

A third wrote: "Holy s***, Trump gave that speech today wearing his pants on backwards. Oh my god."

Another then added: "Pretty good Saturday night studying Trump's pants like the Zapruder film. 9I'm staking out the center here: Pants are on correctly, diaper bulge smoothing the fly.)"

While another said: "My husband just said 'I seriously thought after January 20th I wouldn’t look over to see you searching 'Trump Pants Backwards’ on Twitter, but here we are'."

However, according to fact-checking articles by Snopes and Politifact, an in-depth analysis of the coverage of the event clearly show that Trump's pants do boast a zipper in the crotch area, which suggests that they were on the correct way all along.
