Gunshots reportedly interrupted Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania, causing the former president to be swiftly escorted off-stage by security personnel.

While delivering a speech, Trump appeared to stumble and fall, prompting armed security to surround him for approximately a minute.

After rising to his feet and gesturing triumphantly, Trump was escorted to safety and transported away from the venue. Video footage indicated blood on his ear and showed him clutching his head as he fell.

Republican Senator J.D. Vance expressed concern on social media, urging prayers for Trump and everyone at the rally. The US Secret Service confirmed that Trump was now secure and that protective measures were in place.

They announced an ongoing investigation into the incident but did not disclose further details.

Spokesman Steven Cheung mentioned that Trump was undergoing a check-up at a local medical facility, with more information forthcoming. The White House reported that President Joe Biden had received an initial briefing on the situation.

The Senate’s Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said he was “horrified” by the incident at the Trump rally, and condemned political violence.

“I am horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe. Political violence has no place in our country,” Schumer wrote on social media.
