A video has emerged online which appears to show President Donald Trump, fidgeting and 'conducting' during the performance of the national anthem at the Super bowl. The footage has been highlighted since Trump has previously been strongly critical of former NFL player Colin Kaepernick.
Take a look at this news report all about Kaepernick taking a knee:Kaepernick took a knee during a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner back in 2016, as part of a protest over racial profiling and the wrongful shooting of African-Americans by police forces.
The footage of the president was allegedly recorded at the president's Super Bowl watch party at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida and was leaked to the Miami Herald.
The video in question was later uploaded to Twitter by the former managing editor of the political grassroots website Occupy Democrats, Brian Tyler. Tyler captioned the short clip: "Trump caught mocking the National Anthem during the #SuperBowl. [sic]"
He added: "Since we know the GOP takes a zero-tolerance stand against any display of disrespect toward the flag, I expect the right will be offering a full-throated condemnation. ...Any day now. [sic]"
Tyler later posted a follow-up tweet, quoting a statement Trump made in 2018, criticizing Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem, "You have to stand proudly for the National Anthem, or you shouldn’t be playing, you shouldn’t be there. Maybe you shouldn’t be in the country."
Per the Los Angeles Times, back in 2017 Trump told a crowd in Alabama that the protest was: "A total disrespect of our heritage. That’s a total disrespect of everything that we stand for."
He added: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners when somebody disrespects our flag? You’d say, ‘Get that son of a b*tch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired."
