Hollywood is reeling after the shocking death of legendary director Rob Reiner - but it's not just the murder itself that's turning heads.
As stars mourn the beloved 78-year-old filmmaker, a resurfaced clip has highlighted the stark contrast between Reiner's empathy and President Donald Trump's biting response.
Reiner and his wife, 68-year-old Michele, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14.
Authorities later arrested their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, who is now facing two counts of first-degree murder. A medical examiner confirmed the couple died from "multiple sharp force injuries".
Trump’s reaction sparks widespread outrage
Just hours after news of the double homicide broke, Trump posted a statement on Truth Social - and it was anything but comforting.
He described Reiner as "a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star", then took things even further by blaming the director’s death on a supposed obsession with him.
Trump wrote: "Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"

The post sparked immediate backlash - not only from Hollywood and the general public, but also from Trump’s own party. Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly condemned the comments, calling them inappropriate and disrespectful.
Later, when pressed by reporters at the White House, Trump doubled down, claiming Reiner was "very bad for our country".
Reiner's humanity recalled in resurfaced clip about Charlie Kirk
As outrage over Trump’s remarks swelled, broadcaster Piers Morgan brought attention to a powerful moment from earlier this year - Reiner’s heartfelt reaction to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Morgan posted the clip to X, writing: "As President Trump trashes Rob Reiner following his murder, a reminder of how Reiner responded on my show to the murder of Charlie Kirk."

The video, taken from a September episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, featured Reiner responding to news that the 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder had been fatally shot while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10.
Reiner didn’t hold back in explaining his shock and sadness.
He called the killing an "absolute horror" and admitted he'd "unfortunately" seen the video.
Reiner continued: "It's beyond belief what happened to him, that should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable. That's not a solution to solving problems."
