Before taking her own life, the wife of a South Carolina pastor made a heartbreaking final phone call to 911.
As previously reported, Mica Miller, 30, was discovered on April 27 in Lumber River State Park with a gunshot wound to the side of her head.
Robeson County Medical Examiner Dr. Richard Johnson clarified details surrounding Mica's death.
He confirmed that the gunshot wound was not located in the back of the head, providing clarity on the circumstances of her death, per PEOPLE.
Responding to inquiries regarding Mica's death, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office issued a statement on Facebook, reassuring the public of forthcoming information.
"Sheriff Burnis Wilkins has scheduled a meeting with the family of Mica and will be releasing more detailed information to substantiate the medical examiner findings tomorrow evening," the statement read.
Amid calls for a thorough investigation from friends and family, Major Damien McLean of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office affirmed ongoing efforts to uncover the truth behind Mica's death.
"Officers are in the process of gathering information from people in South and North Carolina as part of their investigation into how Miller died," he assured.
Reports indicate a strained relationship between Mica and Pastor Miller, with divorce proceedings underway and allegations of abuse surfacing.
Prior to her death, Mica had shared a video on Facebook addressing the topic of abuse, offering support to others in similar situations.
Mica made a 911 call shortly before she died, and it has now been released by authorities to put an end to theories and speculation surrounding her passing, per the New York Post.
During the call on April 27, Mica expressed her intention to end her life and requested that authorities trace her phone to her location in a wooded area where she was later discovered deceased.
Mica shared her anguish with the dispatcher, stating: "I’m about to kill myself and I just want my family to know where to find me."
In the call, Mica urgently asked if emergency services could trace her phone's location, providing details of her whereabouts at a national park.
Authorities ruled Mica's death a suicide caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as confirmed by the Robeson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Upon arriving at the state park, deputies recovered a handgun from the water near the crime scene.
Additionally, a timeline provided by authorities outlined Mica's activities leading up to her death, including the purchase of a firearm prior to her visit to the park.
A video has since surfaced of Mica's husband informing his congregation about her passing.
Pastor Miller shared the devastating news, saying: "I got a call late last night, my wife has passed away. It was self-induced and it was up in North Carolina."
He discussed the challenges his wife faced, acknowledging her mental health struggles and the difficulties in accessing necessary medication.
"Y’all pray for me and my kids and everybody. You all knew she wasn’t well mentally and she needed medicine that was hard to get to her," he expressed.
Despite Mica's battles with suicidal thoughts, Pastor Miller highlighted his belief in divine intervention, stating: "She battled suicide but God took care of her and got her through it."
