Donald Trump awkwardly trying to kiss Hope Hicks goodbye is the internet's new favourite meme
In case you've been living on Mars for the past year or so, you might be interested to learn that it hasn't exactly been plain sailing for Donald Trump since he found himself - inexplicably - in the White House as President of the United States.
Trump's victory over rival Hilary Clinton was hugely unexpected - a slap in the face for those who dismissed the former businessman's prospects with a derisive sneer. Unfortunately, the lead up to the election was shrouded in polarizing comments, aggressive rhetoric and emerging scandal after emerging scandal that turned the process into something of a soap opera.
Those who had hoped that Donald Trump's divisive campaign message might be tempered somewhat once he assumed the office of the Presidency were left dismayed, then, when the former businessman careered from polarizing policy to apparently misguided comments and the occasional out and out blunder with alarming alacrity.
Trump has shown a remarkable ability to shake off political disasters that would have buried most traditional politicians, yet even the former businessman has been unable to free himself fully from the shackles of some - most notably the ongoing investigation into members of his campaign team's alleged links to Russian officials and the President's own chequered past with women.
The former businessman attempted to explain away comments he apparently made to Billy Bush; "I just start kissing them [...] It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything." As nothing more than locker room talk.
Yet it seems that the extent of his archaic, and altogether alarming attitude towards women is to be an ongoing issue, and now Trump has found himself the butt of yet another internet joke, after footage of him seeming to lean in for a goodbye kiss with Hope Hicks, only for the latter to turn away and leave him momentarily suspended, lips akimbo, emerged online.
And it wasn't long before the ridiculing began.
Hope Hicks resigned as Donald Trump's White House Communications Director last month.
