A Polish woman who believes she could be Madeleine McCann has revealed that her mother made a bombshell phone call to a doctor to get her hospitalized.

The woman - 21-year-old Julia Wandelt - has dominated headlines in recent weeks after she went viral on Instagram by claiming she was Madeleine, a British child who went missing in Praia De Luz, Portugal, in 2007 while on holiday with her parents.

Since 2020, convicted sex offender Christian Brueckner has been the prime suspect in her disappearance. He denies any involvement. Despite extensive searches over the years, little Madeleine - who was just three years old when she went missing - has not yet been located.

Julia has since caught the attention of the world's media, having recently undergone a DNA test to rule out whether she is in fact another missing girl. Online detectives have suggested that Julia might in fact be Livia Schepp, a Swiss girl who disappeared at the age of six in 2011 along with her twin Alessia.

Recently, during an Instagram Live session with a self-confessed medium who has been speaking on her behalf, Julia made some damning accusations against her mother - including that she lied about Julia's medical history.

The medium - Dr Fia Johansson - said on the live: "So today we had a meeting with an amazing doctor and he said 'Julia be careful because your mom had a conversation with me before you arrived and wanted me to say something that you are not.' Then we asked what was it she wanted you to say, he was kind of quiet and said 'well she is my patient and I have confidentiality and I would never talk to the mother before Julia gave me any written permission.'"

She then added: "'If Julia is not going to give me any written permission, then the mother says that her daughter is crazy and all over the place and you have to stop her, then she has to go to the court, come with a court order and show proof that the daughter is not capable, which she can't do because she has been my patient for so many years,'" the doctor reportedly said, according to Dr Johansson.

Julia's mother had allegedly told the doctor that she wanted her daughter to be hospitalized, stating: "My daughter is in danger and I need to stop her, that's what I want you to tell me and I want you to help give me the wrong and false statement. Then I can ask the police to somehow help me, not arrest directly, but to actually hospitalize my daughter."

Around the time of the Instagram Live session, Julia suddenly deleted her social media accounts, following a statement from Polish police who claimed that Julia was not Madeleine. Polish outlet Gazeta previously claimed Pawel Noga of the Provincial Police Headquarters in the western city of Wroclaw "ruled out" her claims after meeting with her family.

Both Julia and Dr Johansson have maintained that there is a possibility Julia is Madeleine McCann, and vowed to investigate whether she is in fact Maddie or another missing child.
