'Hacktivists' Anonymous have made a stark claim about Donald Trump and Putin
Infamous hacking group Anonymous warned the world against the likes of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Vladimir Putin.
The mysterious cyber group is known for its covert operations, which can include hacking into servers or getting their hands on classified files and making them public.
Last year, they made headlines after pulling off a wide-scale cyberattack on Russia, resulting in 10 terabytes of data being leaked online.
They usually target those who they view as corrupt, dangerous, or oppressive while staying - you guessed it - anonymous.
There is no known leader, making it even harder to trace their movements and anticipate what they will do next, as they aim to bring attention to issues in the world.
But last year, they specifically targeted world leaders Trump and Putin, as well as Tesla CEO Musk.
Anonymous warns world superpowers
In February 2025, they posted a video that spoke about the dangers that would come with 'Project Russia'.
They characteristically made some ominous warnings, stating: “The writing is on the f**king wall, Trump, Musk, and Putin are playing a dangerous game.”
“Now add Musk, pulling the strings in the US government’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, slashing public programs while sucking up power, and we've got the perfect storm for democratic destruction,” Anonymous added.
The group then zeroed in on billionaire Musk, stating: “Musk's parade of empty promises and hollow patriotism is as transparent as it is dangerous.
“The man is the very f***ing embodiment of everything conspiracy theorists warned us about.”
They then spoke about Project Russia again, insisting: “This isn’t paranoia, ‘Project Russia’, a documented plan to destabilize Western democracies.”
In the past, Musk has criticized the group, mocking them after they predicted that Trump would lose the 2024 Presidential election.
They also claimed that the SpaceX CEO would 'dissolve and liquidate Twitter', which he renamed as X after acquiring the social networking site.
Anonymous launched a cyberattack on Russia
The self-described hacktivists targeted the Kremlin in April 2025, releasing sensitive information about Russia's political landscape, while including information on local businesses.
Data on pro-Russian officials and Kremlin assets overseas were also leaked to the public, previously being considered confidential information.
They also released information on the 47th US President himself, Donald Trump.
"In defense of Ukraine, Anonymous has released 10TB of leaked data on all businesses operating in Russia, all Kremlin assets in the West, pro-Russian officials, Donald Trump, and more," Anonymous wrote on their official X account at the time.
Russian businesses, their financial activities and their affiliations were also leaked, while documents suggested that overseas assets belonging to Putin and co. were under a network of influence.
Relevant officials were named, with the public now aware of dealings that may have taken place in secret.
