A brothel manager has explained why there are some acts that sex workers will choose to avoid.
Catherine De Noire manages a brothel by day, but the psychology graduate is also a PhD student while running her own OnlyFans page.
She had started working in the sex industry at the age of 22, but 10 years on, she has become the company's highest-ranking employee and shares content about her work on social media.
While she doesn't partake in any of the activity herself, it's her job to know what's going on in her legal brothel at all times, and to ensure that her workers are comfortable.
On the business side of things, she must also stay on top of payments, clients, CRM systems and documentation - it's serious stuff.
De Noire has seen it all in the industry, while welcoming anywhere between 500 and 1,000 clients into the brothel each day.
As the head of a successful brothel, which De Noire has previously admitted can earn individuals up to $50,000 per month, the manager explained what some workers may turn down.
Everyone at the brothel works shifts, with it only closing from 6AM to 10AM, and a lot can happen in 20 hours.
Speaking exclusively to VT, De Noire said of the riskier acts: "We let each of the workers decide.
"We have women who've worked with us for many years, and they don't do the full service."
Every worker gets to decide what their boundaries are, according to the manager, who went on to give examples: "One of them specializes in squirting. So all she does is squirt on people.
"Sometimes the girls do tantric massages, sometimes they only do a strip show, so that is up to them.
"Sometimes the client can come, and [maybe] he's too big, or she doesn't feel good about doing XYZ with him."
But this is okay, as De Noire says she doesn't force any of her workers to do anything that they aren't up for - the word "no" is welcomed.
"I always tell the girls, 'Look, you need to decide, you're an independent contractor, and if the client looks weird, or if he wants to do something with you that you don't want to do with him, just tell him no,'" she admitted.
De Noire candidly added: "Someone can do anal sex with one person, but then she can refuse to do anal sex for a second person, for any reason."
While figures over a month can vary, we asked De Noire about the most earned in a single night by one of the sex workers at the brothel.
After some consideration, the manager shared: "I think it was around €30,000 ($35,110), I mean, she earned this amount of money, and the next day she came to work.
"I told her, 'You should at least take a day off!' but she said, 'I still want to be here. It's going to be my second lucky day.'"
Sharing more about the night that earned the worker a handsome paycheck, De Noire admitted: "It was like a normal-looking guy, and I think she spent the whole night with him.
"The next morning, they went for breakfast as well, so it was 14 hours or something like that."
It looks like that's the true power of a sex worker deciding what they want to do with their time and what acts they want to engage in.
In some uncomfortable situations for sex workers, an escape route is needed - this is where the "strict protocol" known as the "eight-second rule" comes into play.
Speaking in a video posted to her Instagram page, De Noire explained: "All rooms are equipped with panic buttons,
“Every worker knows exactly where the panic button is located in their room, and they are trained on how and when to use it."
The brothel manager said that this can be used "if a situation becomes uncomfortable, threatening or escalates into an emergency," so the button can be pushed discreetly and the client remains unaware.
"The moment the button is pressed, a siren sounds in the security office and the room number is displayed immediately on our monitors," De Noire shared.
This is when the brothel's security will make it to the room within eight seconds to descalate the situation, and according to her, "this isn't just a guideline, it's a strict protocol."
To practice, staff go through drills and training so they are ready for any possibility.
